课程简介:
公共管理专业英语是通过英语的方式,以政府为核心的公共部门运用管理学、政治学、经济学、法学、社会学、系统科学等多学科理论与方法对国家和公共组织进行有效治理的管理活动。公共管理学是运用管理学、政治学、经济学等多学科理论与方法研究公共组织,尤其是政府组织的管理活动及其规律的学科体系。公共管理专业英语则是在全球化背景下,将涉及公共管理的各项内容以英语的方式加以表达,从而突出本专业的交叉学科群,是以解决公共问题为导向的应用科学。
公共管理专业英语教学有别于普通研究生英语教学的范式,具有公共管理专业的针对性。本课程的教学内容涵盖公共管理各个领域应用词汇,通过本课程学习,不仅使学生熟悉、掌握公共管理的专业术语和概念,提高他们阅读、理解英语专业文献的能力和用英语进行交流的能力,而且使学生学到国内外好的、新的公共管理理念。本大纲的教学对象在入学时,应是具有学士学位的本科毕业生。应已掌握系统的语法知识,语篇知识,领会式掌握4,500 个左右单词,并在听、说、读、写、译方面受过一定的基础训练。
教学目标:
本课程教学通过讲解所选课文,指导阅读、翻译有关英语专业文献,力求从以下几个方面培养学生的英语应用能力:(1)能够具有在自身工作领域进行简单国际交流的能力,如简单的英语口语交流和电子邮件交流等;(2)能够熟悉、掌握本领域的英语专业术语和概念,阅读本领域内简单的英语文献、资料及当今世界热点问题的英语文章;(3)当进行本领域专门研究时,能够用英语查阅和检索文献,并能撰写与自己工作相关的简单应用文及研究论文摘要等。
教学方式:
课堂讲授与案例分析、讨论相结合,坚持课堂教学与课下自主式学习相结合的教学模式,补充相关英语专业文献进行课下阅读。
课程要求及考核方式:
为了保证学习的效果,课程要求学生应对公关管理核心概念基及原理的英文表述有所了解,具备使用专业英语描述专业内容的能力,要求学生保证出勤并积极参与课程讨论、认真完成作业。
考核方式为考试。
课程成绩构成:
课程成绩由三部分构成:学生的平时出勤(30%)、课堂表现、作业(10%)、及期末考试成绩(60%)一并进行评估,最终得出本课程的成绩。
