The French government Tuesday returned to their rightful owners three paintings stolen by the Nazis.
Culture Minister Aurelie Filippetti said giving the art back to the families is her "moral duty," an acknowledgement of the suffering caused by the Nazis during World War II.
The Nazis seized the paintings from their original owners, which included Jews and non-Jewish families.
Hundreds of stolen paintings hang in French museums, with hopes that they will be recognized and returned.
