春节贴春联，不仅是装饰房屋的一种方式，也使得屋子增添一种喜庆之气。春联贴在家门上是对自己的一种祝福，也是对来访客人的一种祝福。

    文中的spring couplet就是“春联”的意思，其中couplet是名词，意为“对句；对联”，如：a congratulatory couplet（一幅贺联），在我国很多农村地区，春节时还会贴年画（pasting New Year prints），最出名的就是门神（Door Gods）。
    最后一段中的even作形容词，意为“偶数的”，反义词是odd（奇数的），也可以表示“平滑的，平坦的”，如：even surface（平滑的表面）；它还可以作动词，意为“使平坦”，如：even the lawn（压平草地）。
