    In January 2022, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions issued the Opinion on Supporting the Construction of a First-Class University with Characteristics at China University of Labor Relations, which bolstered the confidence of all faculty and students, propelling the university into a new historical stage.

    In November 2021, the CULR was approved to become a master's degree-granting institution, allowing it to enroll, train, and confer degrees to graduate students in three majors: social work, journalism and communication, and public administration.

    In October 2019, the CULR celebrated its 70th anniversary. Wang Dongming, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and Chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU), extended warm congratulations and provided important instructions. Li Yufu, Secretary of the Party Group of the ACFTU, Vice Chairman of the ACFTU, and First Secretary of the ACFTU Secretariat, attended the celebration and delivered a speech.

    In May 2018, Wang Dongming, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and Chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU), Li Yufu, Secretary of the Party Group of the ACFTU, Vice Chairman of the ACFTU, and First Secretary of the ACFTU Secretariat, and Chen Baosheng, Secretary of the CPC Leading Group of the Ministry of Education and Minister of Education, visited the CULR for research, encouraging teachers and students to build a new era and create a first-class university with distinctive characteristics.

    On April 30, 2018, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the People's Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, wrote a letter to the model workers of the undergraduate program at the CULR, encouraging them to continue working hard and achieve great success. This inspired workers nationwide to do their best in the new era, promoting respect for model workers and the spirit of hard work.

    In July 2017, the ACFTU and the Ministry of Education (MOE) jointly issued the Opinion on the Co-construction of the China University of Labor Relations, marking a new stage in the university's development.

    On February 6, 2017, the ACFTU approved the "13th Five-Year Plan" of the CULR on the 66th meeting of its 16th Secretariat, aiming for it to become a first-class domestic and internationally renowned university in labor relations and trade unions by its 80th anniversary in 2029.

    On January 11, 2017, the MOE approved the Statutes of China University of Labor Relations (CILR) numbered 107.


  • 2012

    In 2012, the Ministry of Education approved the CULR as a pilot unit for cultivating master's degree students under the "Special Talent Training Program to Serve National Needs." The CULR began enrolling and training MPA students in labor relations and trade union work in 2013.


  • 2005

    In May 2005, the Ministry of Education included labor relations in the undergraduate enrollment catalog for general colleges and universities for the first time. The CULR recruited 45 students for China's first labor relations undergraduate program.


  • 2004

    In August 2004, the CULR invited domestic experts to discuss the necessity and urgency of starting an undergraduate specialization in labor relations, gaining support from attending experts. It then reported to the Ministry of Education to apply for this new major.


  • 2003

    In May 2003, with the issuance of the Notice of the Ministry of Education on Approving China University of Labor Movement to be Transformed to an Undergraduate College, the university bid farewell to its past as an adult college and renamed China University of Labor Relations. In the same year, the CULR enrolled 200 undergraduates in law, business administration, labor and social security, and social work.

    In 1999, the China University of Labor Movement was approved by the Ministry of Education and Beijing Municipal Education Commission to start general advanced vocational education.

    Starting from 1997, the China University of Labor Movement organized correspondence education for adults on a trial basis.

    In 1992, with the approval of the former State Education Commission, the China University of Labor Movement recruited on-the-job adult model worker undergraduates nationwide, with the first batch of 48 students including national model workers, May First medalists, March 8th outstanding female workers, pioneers of the New Long March, and provincial model workers, and other distinguished individuals.

    On January 12, 1987, the National Press and Publication Administration approved the publication of the journal, Chinese Workers' Movement, which was officially launched and issued publicly in March. The journal became a bimonthly magazine in 1989.

    On April 29, 1986, the State Education Commission approved the enrollment of students for majors in the history of labor movement and labor law.

    On September 14, 1985, the China University of Labor Movement abolished the Training Department and established the Departments of Trade Union Studies and Labor Protection.

    In 1985, trade union studies and labor protection majors were launched and included in the national enrollment plan for adult higher education with the Ministry of Education's consent.

    On October 20, 1984, the ACFTU decided to change the Department of Scheduled Short Training to the Further Training Department for Trade Union Leaders, responsible for training chairmen, deputy chairmen, department leaders of provincial, municipal and regional trade unions, chairmen and deputy chairmen of major enterprises, and chairmen of large county trade unions.

    On September 5, 1984, the China University of Labor Movement celebrated the 35th anniversary of the All-China General Cadre School and its transformation into the China University of Labor Movement, with a speech by Ni Zhifu, a member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau and Chairman of the ACFTU.

    On August 13, 1984, the ACFTU Cadre School was formally transformed into the China University of Labor Movement, an independent higher education institution for adults under central government ministries and commissions. Chen Yun, a member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau Standing Committee, wrote the name "China University of Labor Movement".

    On June 21, 1983, the ACFTU applied to the CPC Central Committee Secretariat for the opening of a three-year diploma program, which was approved.

    On November 12, 1978, the CPC Central Committee agreed to restore the ACFTU Cadre School, which had been closed due to the Cultural Revolution that started in 1966.

    On July 23, 1964, Chairman Mao Zedong, Premier Zhou Enlai, Chairman Zhu De, and other leading comrades of the CPC and the nation met and took photos with students from the training program for county trade union chairmen at the Great Hall of the People.

    In January 1957, Chairman Mao Zedong and General Secretary Deng Xiaoping met and took photos with the graduates of the 7th general training program at Zhongnanhai.

    On July 26, 1954, the ACFTU Cadre School moved from Tianjin to Beijing, officially taking office in the new buildings on August 11.

    On July 2, 1954, Di Zicai was appointed president of the ACFTU Cadre School on the 38th meeting of the ACFTU Secretariat.

    On August 22, 1952, Comrade Bo Yibo, with Comrade Liu Shaoqi's positive reply, approved the ACFTU Cadre School to build new buildings in Beijing. Then the ACFTU Cadre School began preparations, including purchasing land from Huayuan Village outside the Fucheng Gate.

    On July 24, 1952, the ACFTU requested to build school buildings with a capacity of 1,500 trainees in Beijing, approved by Comrade Liu Shaoqi on August 20.

    On April 24, 1951, the third general training program and the training course for trade union grassroots cadres opened simultaneously. President Li Lisan attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

    On February 20, 1951, the training course for trade union clerical and educational cadres began. It closed on March 24.

    On December 11, 1950, the Labor Insurance Training Course opened. Zhu Xuefan, Deputy Chairman of the ACFTU attended its launching ceremony.

    On July 7, 1950, the second training program, offered by Soviet experts and relevant department leaders of the ACFTU, kicked off.

    On December 24, 1949, Soviet experts, Rimehoff, Markov, and Gorelkin hired by the ACFTU arrived at the ACFTU Cadre School, which organized a warm welcoming reception.

    On November 8, 1949, the first general training program of the All-China General Cadre School opened with the attendance of Li Lisan, deputy chairman of the ACFTU, and a number of leaders of the ACFTU. The first program had 674 trainees from local and industrial unions in major industrial cities across the country, and the ACFTU Cadre School hired Soviet experts to teach the courses. The six-month program closed on May 15, 1950.

    On November 1, 1949, the ACFTU Cadre School held its first school affairs meeting.

    On September 27, 1949, Tianjin Daily announced the establishment of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions Cadre School on the Basis of North China Workers and Cadres School.

    In late September 1949, the ACFTU decided to transform the North China Workers and Cadres School into the All-China Federation of Trade Unions Cadre School, with Li Lisan as the president and campus at 26 Jiujiang Road, Tianjin, the campus of North China Workers and Cadres School.

    In April 1949, the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Border Region Administrative Cadres School was moved to Tianjin and renamed North China Workers and Cadres School, and in July 1949, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions convened a national working conference, which suggested that the ACFTU should open the School for Cadres of Labor Movement.

    In 1946, the CPC Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Central Bureau set up the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Border Region Administrative Cadres School.

    In June 1939, the CPC Central Committee merged North Shaanxi Public School, Yan'an Workers' School, Anwubao Youth Training School, and Lu Xun Arts School to form North China Union University. The 550 trainees of Yan'an Workers' School became the Workers' Department of the new university.

    In 1939, to meet the need for training worker leaders, the Central Committee (Organizing Committee) of Workers' Movement renamed the Workers' Second Brigade as Yan'an Workers' School, and relocate it to Qiaoergou.
