From September 1 to 7, to implement the Belt and Road cooperation consensus reached by the leaders of China and Nepal and to promote people-to-people connectivity, a delegation from the Trade Union Policy Institute (TUPI) of the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) visited China to participate in the "GEFONT Labor Relations Curriculum Training Program" at the CULR.
On the morning of September 1, the opening ceremony of the "GEFONT Labor Relations Curriculum Training Program" was held at the Staff Home of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions. Jiang Guangping, Vice President, Secretary of the Secretariat, and a member of the CPC Standing Committee of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, attended and delivered a speech. Liu Xiangbing, President of the CULR, attended the opening ceremony. Teaching and managing representatives from the Trade Union Policy Institute of the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT Trade Union Policy Institute), Nepalese trade unions, and related Nepal universities, and representatives from the Department of International Policy of All-China Federation of Trade Unions and the CULR attended the opening ceremony.
During the three-day lectures, nine teachers from the CULR lectured on "The Historical Evolution of CULR and the Management Model of Labor Relations Courses", "Enrollment of Students, Recruitment of Teachers and Professors, Graduates' Employment Prospects and Employment Opportunities", "Labor Relations Research, Curriculum Offerings and Academic Exchange in the Field of Labor Relations among Universities in China", "Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era and the Development Path of Trade Union Socialism with Chinese Characteristics", "China's National Conditions, Basic Experiences in Reform and Opening-up and Economic Development", "Harmonious Labor Relations with Chinese Characteristics", "Labor Law and Labor Dispute Resolution System", "Collective Negotiation and Enterprise Democratic Management System", "Experience in Promoting Employment and Social Security System Reform" and "Safe Production and Occupational Disease Prevention and Control", and answered questions from the Nepalese side.
On the afternoon of September 4, the delegation of GEFONT Trade Union Policy Institute, led by President Bindai Pandi, visited the CULR. Liu Xiangbing, President and Deputy Secretary of the CULR Party Secretary and Vice President Wu Wanxiong met with the delegation. Yan Xiaofei and Jiang Ying, members of the Standing Committee of the CULR Party Committee and relevant department heads and teacher representatives participated in the discussion and exchange. The discussion was chaired by Vice President Wu Wanxiong.
President Liu Xiangbing warmly welcomed the visit of the delegation. He stated that China and Nepal had a long history of friendly exchanges, and with the deepening cooperation between the two sides, the CULR attached great importance to exchanges with Nepalese experts in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative. He highlighted the basic situation of the CULR in terms of historical development, educational philosophy, discipline settings, education and teaching, and talent cultivation, pointing out that the CULR provides a platform for the education of national labor models and has achieved significant educational outcomes. He hoped that both sides could deepen exchanges in the field of labor relations and trade union, and conduct collaborative research on professional fields and talent cultivation issues. He also suggested that scholars from both universities could establish a regular contact mechanism, and sign cooperation framework agreements at appropriate times to promote academic exchanges between the two universities and scholars, and to yield fruitful results in bilateral trade union cooperation.
Binda Pandey, President of GEFONT Trade Union Policy Institute, expressed that the institute would conduct in-depth discussions on how to establish a long-term and stable cooperation mechanism between the two sides, and thanked the CULR professors for sharing their experiences in training courses. Professor Sifole Bhutan from Tribhuvan University in Nepal expressed in his speech the hope to conduct research on labor relations under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Tribhuvan University. As the largest school of Terribun University, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has a very comprehensive range of disciplines and a large number of graduate programs. They hoped to learn more about curriculum design, program offerings, course research, and practical activities from China, to deepen cooperation, and establish a mechanism for collaboration.
Heads of the Academic Affairs Office, the Graduate Department, the Department of Scientific Research, and the School of Trade Union Cadres Training introduced their respective areas, including undergraduate talent cultivation and teaching management, graduate training characteristics and development status, research systems and outstanding achievements, and the mission of trade union cadre training. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on the outcomes of the training program, admission standards, teaching methods, curriculum settings, and the publication of research results.
The General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) is the largest national trade union organization in Nepal, which is politically under the leadership of the Communist Party of Nepal. It has maintained friendly exchanges with All-China Federation of Trade Unions for many years.
