On December 10, the six members of the Seychelles Federation of Workers' Unions (SFWU) Delegation led by its general secretary Anthony Robinson, accompanied by Li Xiaobo, Vice Director of the International Department of the ACFTU, visited the CULR. Liu Xiangbing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Secretary of the CULR, and Wu Wanxiong, Vice President, met with the delegation. Officials from the International Department of the ACFTU and relevant departments of the CULR attended the meeting.
Secretary Liu Xiangbing warmly welcomed General Secretary Anthony Robinson and his delegation. He gave a detailed introduction to the history, development, characteristics, academic departments, faculty, and student structure of the CULR, and reviewed the long-standing friendship between China and Seychelles as well as the two countries' educational exchanges. General Secretary Anthony Robinson expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from the All-China Federation of Trade Unions and the CULR. He believes that the CULR has cultivated a large number of outstanding talents in the tourism industry not only for China but also for the world. Seychelles relies on the tourism industry as its pillar industry and attaches great importance to cultivating and developing young talents in the tourism profession. The tourism school in Seychelles specializes in training practitioners in the tourism industry and is one of the largest schools in Seychelles. He mentioned that both schools have similarities in valuing school-enterprise cooperation and student practical training. He hopes to establish a good exchange relationship with the CULR, learn from the CULR's experience in school-enterprise cooperation and tourism industry skills training, and better support the development of Seychelles' tourism economy in the future.
During the exchange meeting, Wang Wenhui, Vice Dean of the School of Hotel Management, introduced the CULR's positioning and training objectives, faculty and teaching facilities, talent training characteristics and effects, etc. She hopes that in the future, both sides can further deepen cooperation, learn from each other, and jointly improve the teaching effectiveness of the tourism management majors of both sides. During the exchange session, participants actively interacted and had lively discussions, delving into hot topics such as the hospitality management program, employment prospects, the situation of foreign labor in the tourism industry, employment conditions, related industries, worker training, and career progression issues.
During the visit, General Secretary Anthony Robinson and his delegation also visited the historical gallery of the CULR.
The Seychelles Federation of Workers' Unions, established in 1996, is a member organization of The Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU). It is also a member organization of the International Trade Union Confederation and the Commonwealth Trade Union Federation, with 6,000 members. It includes unions for teachers, healthcare and other public service workers, and the Seychelles Transport and General Workers Union. The organization has close ties with the ruling Seychelles People's Progressive Front.
