On the morning of December 1, a seminar on "CPTPP and Trade Union Work" was held in Conference Room 509 of Zhiyuan Building. Fu Deyin, President and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of our university, and Yan Xiaofei, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Director of the Department of Scientific Research and Dean of the Institute of Labor Relations and Trade Unions of our university, attended the seminar. Experts and scholars from the University of International Business and Economics, the International Department of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU), as well as the Institute of Labor Relations and Trade Unions and the Law School of our university participated in the seminar. The seminar was chaired by Director Yan Xiaofei.
President Fu Deyin welcomed the experts and scholars present, and introduced the history and discipline construction of our university, hoping to further focus on the key work of the ACFTU through academic discussions and information sharing, deepen exchanges and cooperation, and achieve fruitful results. He pointed out that the seminar shared previous research results, assessed the current domestic and international situation and future development trends, and was highly inspiring. Within the framework of a community with a shared future for mankind, everyone should conduct in-depth research in areas such as strengthening research on international rules and standards, negotiating strategies for countries joining the CPTPP, and the application of international rules in different countries, to produce more high-quality think tank results.
At the seminar, Professors Jia Huaiqin, Li Yang, and Li Jie from the University of International Business and Economics introduced the construction of relevant disciplines at their university, the development process and experience of China's accession to relevant international trade agreements, labor clauses in trade agreements such as CPTPP, and the situation of trade union organizations in Vietnam. Director Zheng Haixin of the Comprehensive Research Division and Director Qiu Lizhen of the Asia-Pacific Division of the ACFTU International Department introduced research topics in the trade union field, cooperation and exchanges, conference information, and the work of Vietnamese trade unions. Professor Lin Yanling, Professor Qiao Jian, and Associate Professor Guo Yuqiang from our university shared the external environment, opportunities, challenges, and work strategies faced by China in joining the CPTPP, as well as relevant research results from our university.
The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) is a free trade agreement signed by 11 Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) countries, including Japan, Canada, Australia, and Chile after the United States withdrew from the agreement. It officially took effect in December 2018.
