On the afternoon of May 15, a conference between China-Kenya Trade Union Leaders was held at the All-China Federation of Trade Unions.
Jiang Guangping, secretary general of the secretariat of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, Secretary General Dr. Francis Atwoli of Kenya's Central Organization of Trade Unions, and Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Labor delivered speeches, highlighting the long-lasting friendship between China and Kenya. Dr. Francis Atwoli expressed his sincere gratitude to the Chinese trade unions for their assistance in the event of a severe drought in Kenya and for their strong support in strengthening the capacity of the Kenyan Central Organization of Trade Unions. It is believed that this meeting will further enhance mutual understanding and promote friendly cooperation between the trade unions of the two countries.
As a representative of trade union think tanks and training institutions, Professor Jiang Ying, Director of the Law School, and Professor Li Tao, Vice Director of the Institute of Trade Union Cadre Training, participated in the conference, presenting the current status of the CULR, including its role in trade unions, labor relations research, and cadre training. They also sought to establish further collaboration with the Kenya Central Organization of Trade Unions' labor institute under the guidance of All-China Federation of Trade Unions.
The leaders of relevant departments of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, such as Grassroots Trade Unions, Welfare, and Female Workers Departments, as well as representatives of Sinohydro Group Ltd., China Road and Bridge Corporation, and China Civil Engineering Corporation introduced their successful experiences in creating harmonious labor relations in enterprises in Kenya and Africa.
