On the morning of November 15th, Liu Xiangbing, Vice Chairman of University Council and President of CULR, was invited to the Website of Chinese Workers WORKERCN.CN to talk about “ Shoulder the New Mission Entrusted by the New Era”, studying and carrying out the series of interviews of the spirits of the 19th National Congress of CPC. He accepted the interview on the issues of important significance of the 19th National Congress of CPC and construction and reform of industrial workers.

    President Liu believes that the 19th National Congress of CPC is a landmark conference held during the crucial period of building a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way and when socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era. Comrade Xi Jinping pointed out in the 19th National Congress of CPC that “building an army of labor force with knowledge, skill and innovation”, “employment is the greatest livelihood of the people” and “strengthening the building of a social security system”, and this series of important expositions on the working class and trade union work is an important part of Xi Jinping’s socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era.

In view of how to regard the reform and construction of industrial workers in the new era, President Liu emphasized that the reform and construction of industrial workers in the new era should consolidate the class foundation for the political construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics, provide strong support for economic construction and provide a steady stream of spiritual power for cultural construction, make unique contributions to social construction and lay a solid foundation for the leadership, which are a major move and systematic project to uphold and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.

When talking about how to carry forward the spirits of model worker and craftsman in the whole society, President Liu pointed out: first, we must advocate labor, respect workers, and exert role models of model workers and craftsmen of great power; the second is to integrate the spirit of model workers and craftsmen into the actual production of industrial workers; third, we should intensify the study of labor model and craftsmen, and strengthen the study of the model worker spirit and the craftsman spirit; the fourth is to carry out various forms of labor education in the whole society.

   As to what trade union workers should focus on in the report of the 19th National Congress of CPC, President Liu gave some suggestions: we should consciously enter a new era in our thinking, take the initiative to confront new conflicts in practice, and earnestly keep in mind the new mission.

  Finally, President Liu emphasized that CULR, as the only general undergraduate university affiliated to the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, devoted itself to building an important base for training high-quality applied talents in our country, the highest seat of learning for training the cadres of trade union, and the high-end think tank in study of labor relations and trade unions. Our university will further strengthen the study and exploration of the development path of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era when studying and implementing the spirit of the 19th National Congress of CPC.
