On the afternoon of October 12, the delegation of City University of Macau (CityU Macau) including Vice Rector Kong Fanqing, Pro-Rector Wicky So Kam Hung, Zou Chenchong, Head of Student Affairs Office and Chan Soi Sang, Head of Information Technology Office paid an exchange visit to CULR on the occasion of CULR celebrating its 75th anniversary. CULR Vice President Wu Wanxiong met the delegation at the Meeting Room 408 of Weishi Building. The meeting was attended by the persons in charge of relevant secondary-level schools and functional departments such as the School of Labor Economics, School of Public Administration and Policy, School of Computer Science, Student Affairs Office and Office of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs.
During the meeting, CULR Vice President Wu Wanxiong warmly welcomed CityU Macau Vice Rector Kong Fanqing and her delegation. He briefly reviewed the glorious history of our university over the past 75 years, and the leapfrog progress from the initial training of labor union cadres to adult education for academic credentials, and then to the present undergraduate and graduate education. He emphasized that CULR attaches great importance to the cooperative relationship with CityU Macau. Both universities have quite a few similarities in disciplinary settings, goals of talent cultivation and other aspects, and have achieved fruitful results since the signing of the cooperation agreement in 2017. He expected that the two universities further expand the cooperation scale and explore more diversified means of cooperation on exchange of teachers and students, and academic research to embark on a new partnering journey.
Vice Rector Kong Fanqing expressed gratitude for the warm reception of CULR and said that the two universities have maintained friendly cooperative relationship for a long time. Over the past four years, more than 40 students from CULR pursued graduate studies in her university. She noted that in recent years CityU Macau has gained prominent results in enrollment, faculty, and education quality, and in particular the data science discipline has been included in the talent introduction program, injecting new vitality into the development of the university. She said that the university highly values the cooperative relationship with CULR, and is willing to enhance exchanges and cooperation on the existing basis.
During the exchange session, the delegates from both sides had in-depth discussions on intercollegiate cooperation in relevant fields. Li Ming, Head of CULR's Student Affairs Office briefed the further education, employment and major settings of university students. Zhou Baishun, Executive Dean the School of Computer Science, He Yiming, Secretary of the Party Branch of the School of Labor Economics, Guo Zhenjia, Vice Dean of the School of Public Administration and Policy, Wang Xiaohui, Vice Dean of the School of Social Work, and Wu Peining, Vice Dean of the School of Computer Science introduced their respective schools and put forward suggestions for future cooperation.
After the meeting, the CityU Macau's delegation visited CULR's history museum, the exhibition of "New Era Comes from Hard Work": CULR studies and implements the spirit of Chinese President Xi Jinping's reply letter, the smart classroom in Wendao Building, the library in Zhiyuan Building, and the intelligent robot laboratory of the School of Computer Science in the comprehensive building. Wang Hujun, Deputy Dean of the School of Computer Science in charge of scientific research explained to the delegation the technologies of magnetic 4D printing and software robots that have been selected into the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum and the national science & technology week, and illustrated the whole processes of the key technologies such as magnetic intelligent materials, magnetic control 4D printing, and magnetic control software robots, as well as the application scenarios in biomedicine, aerospace, smart wearables and other fields.
As a comprehensive university, CityU Macau is one of the three universities in the Macau Special Administrative Region with the authority to confer bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. The university is home to nearly 12,000 students with the support of the ten faculties: Faculty of Business, Faculty of Data Science, Faculty of Finance, Faculty of Health and Wellness, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Innovation and Design, Faculty of International Tourism and Management, School of Education, School of Law, Institute for Research on Portuguese-Speaking Countries, offering over 40 Chinese- and English-medium programs including 12 bachelor’s degree programs, 20 master’s degree programs, and 15 doctoral and PhD programs. The University signed a cooperation agreement with CULR in 2017.
