On the morning of December 7, accompanied by the International Department of the ACFTU, Maria Helena Andre, Director of the ILO Bureau for Workers' Activities (ACTRAV), and Changhee Lee, Director of the ILO Country Office for China and Mongolia, visited our university for exchange. Vice President Wu Wanxiong of our university met with the ILO delegation, accompanied by the representatives of the School of Trade Union Cadres Training, the Department of Scientific Research (Institute of Labor Relations and Trade Unions), and the International Office of Cooperation and Exchange.
Vice President Wu Wanxiong extended a warm welcome to Director Maria Helena Andre and her delegation. He reviewed the friendly exchanges between our university and the ILO, and introduced the university's development history, current situation, and recent development and achievements in discipline construction, talent cultivation, trade union cadre training, model worker education, international exchange and cooperation, etc. He hoped to take this exchange visit as an opportunity to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the ILO, and create opportunities and conditions for the international talent cultivation and teacher growth and development of the university.
Director Maria Helena Andre expressed her gratitude for the warm reception from our university and briefly introduced the purpose of the ILO ACTRAV's visit to China. She mentioned that our university has done a lot of important work in the fields of trade unions, labor relations, academic research, and international exchanges. The ACTRAV has also conducted extensive work in studying the impact of macroeconomics, artificial intelligence, and technological changes on workers, and looks forward to strengthening communication and cooperation in various fields in the future.
Subsequently, Vice President Wu Wanxiong accompanied the delegation to visit the theme exhibition "The New Era is Achieved through Hard Work" - our university's exhibition on studying and implementing the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's reply letter and the university history museum. At the reply letter exhibition, Director Maria Helena Andre praised our university's in-depth research and interpretation of the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's reply letters, insistence on organizing undergraduate education for model workers, and solid implementation of labor education. At the university history museum, Director Maria Helena Andre gained a comprehensive understanding of our university's historical evolution, mission and vision, educational characteristics, faculty team, enrollment and employment, teaching and research, international exchanges, campus culture, etc. She inquired in detail about our university's achievements in external exchanges, hosting international conferences, student employment, and training of trade union cadres, highly affirming our outstanding achievements in promoting characteristic advantages, expanding diversified international exchanges, strengthening the training of trade union cadres, and serving the ACFTU and trade union work.
The ILO is the specialized agency of the United Nations dealing with labor affairs, and the ACTRAV is its specialized agency responsible for technical cooperation and policy consultation with trade unions in various countries. The ILO Country Office for China and Mongolia is mainly responsible for implementing ILO projects and activities in the People's Republic of China (including the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macao Special Administrative Region) and Mongolia.
