From November 1 to 3, the 9th Asian Regional Congress of the International Labour and Employment Relations Association (ILERA) was held at the Beijing International Convention Center. Qiu Xiaoping, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, Jiao Kaihe, Vice Chairman and Secretary of the Secretariat of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU), Huang Haisong, Vice President of the China Enterprise Confederation and China Enterprise Directors Association, Xie Jinrong, Full-time Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and Dong-One Kim, President of ILERA and Professor at Korea University, attended the congress and delivered speeches. The congress was chaired by Hua Fuzhou, President of China Association for Labour Studies. As the co-organizer of the congress, President Liu Xiangbing attended the opening ceremony, and more than 50 teachers and students from the Department of Scientific Research, the School of Labor Relations and Human Resources, the Law School and the School of Business Administration attended the congress.
The theme of this annual meeting is "The Implications of Economic Transformation and Innovation on Labour and Employment Relations and the Responses". More than 300 experts and scholars from the International Labour Organization, Harvard University, Cambridge University, and various domestic and international universities and research institutions attended the congress for discussions and exchanges. At the congress, our university hosted the parallel sub-forum of "The Role of Trade Unions", which was presided over by Associate Professor Qiao Jian, Director of the School of Labor Relations and Human Resources. Professor Lin Yanling gave a presentation entitled "TPP Labor Standards, International Labor Standards and Their Impact". Professor Zheng Qiao served as the commentator for the sub-forum "Economic Downturn and Enterprise Labor Relations Management Innovation". Associate Professor Xiao Zhu made a speech entitled "Reflections on Labor Dispute Arbitration and Basic Ideas for Future Reform". By attending the congress, our university's teachers fully demonstrated their scientific research strength and communication style, strengthened exchanges with experts and scholars from other countries, broadened the international vision of our teachers and students, and stimulated the enthusiasm of students to study hard! In the future, our university will continue to leverage its unique strengths and advantages, conduct in-depth research in the field of labor relations, uphold the spirit of labor, pursue sustainable development, and stay attuned to the latest academic trends!
The congress is co-hosted by the China Association for Labour Studies and the Chinese Academy of Labour and Social Security, and co-organized by the Chinese University of Labor Relations, the School of Labor and Human Resources at Renmin University of China, the Labour Science Education Branch of the China Association for Labour Studies, and the School of Labor Economics at Capital University of Economics and Business.
