On August 17, the International Seminar of Japan-China University Students, co-hosted by the Aichi University in Japan and the CULR, was held in Nanning, Guangxi. Wu Wanxiong, Vice President of the CULR, Chen Guoren, Vice Chairman of Nanning Federation of Trade Unions, and Professor Kazuhiko Tomasu, Vice President of the Aichi University attended the seminar. Nearly 100 students from the CULR and the Faculty of Modern Chinese Studies, the Aichi University in Japan, as well as some of the tutors from both universities, participated in the event.
Vice President Wu Wanxiong pointed out in his opening speech that the International Seminar of Japan-China University Students has been held for 19 years and is an important international exchange activity of the CULR. During the 14-day event, Chinese and Japanese university students investigated issues and exchanged ideas, forming a deep friendship. He emphasized that social practice activities are not only part of a learning and exchange activity for Chinese and Japanese university students, but also an important channel to strengthen people-to-people exchanges between China and Japan and promote friendly relations between the two peoples. At the meeting, Chen Guoren, Vice Chairman of the Nanning Federation of Trade Unions, Professor Kazuhiko Tomasu, Vice President of the Aichi University, and Mr. Hiroshi Nakayama, representative of the Aichi University's schoolmate council, delivered speeches, underscoring the importance of enhancing China-Japan friendship and strengthening learning and exchange between the two sides in social practice.
In the seminar, Chinese and Japanese university students presented the results of their field research in Nanning. The CULR's enterprise team explored the "current situation and development path for the building of technical worker teams in enterprises in Nanning" by visiting a number of local enterprises including Foxconn Technology Group (Nanning) Science and Technology Park, and Nanning Halima Chemical Co., Ltd. The urban team reflected on and summarized the topic of "whether secondary vocational education in Nanning is a good choice" through their research and study at Nanning Education Bureau, Nanning Fourth Vocational and Technical College, and other units. The rural team went to Long'an County and Liangqing District to investigate the "Nanning path for ecological rural construction". Associate Professor Ye Pengfei, Vice Director of the School of Labor Union at the CULR, and Professor Liu Bolin, Director of the International Exchange Center at the Aichi University, commented on this seminar and made professional analysis of the problems encountered by the students during the research, providing guidance for them to better conduct social research in the future. Professor Abe Satoru from the Aichi University in Japan delivered a closing speech and presented certificates of completion to the students together with Vice President Wu Wanxiong. That evening, the International Conference and Friendship Association for Chinese and Japanese Students was held at the Nanning Hotel, where college students gathered together, singing and dancing, and envisaging their friendship.
From August 5 to August 18, the China-Japan Social Practice Inspection Team, which was divided into three groups, went to enterprises, communities, and rural areas in Nanning respectively for a 14-day summer vocation inspection and social practice activities. This event was met with strong support from the Nanning Federation of Trade Unions. Vice President Wu Wanxiong awarded the title of "Student Social Practice Base of China University of Labor Relations" to the Nanning Federation of Trade Unions.
