From December 3 to 7, 16 students from the School of Labor Relations and Human Resources of our university, led by two teachers Yu Min and Wang Xiao, went to China’s Taiwan Region for an academic exchange visit.
At the Department of Labor Relations at the Chinese Culture University, our teachers and students had a discussion and exchange with Ching-Wen Pai, Chen Zhengliang, Wang Guohua and Chen Xinshi on the historical evolution, major setup, curriculum arrangement, student training, student employment status, cooperation and exchange between the two universities. After the meeting, Professor Chen Zhengliang gave a special lecture entitled "Labor Standards Act on Indefinite Labor Contract in China’s Taiwan Region" to our teachers and students. Professor Chen introduced relevant theories of labor relations and their implementation starting from legal provisions and linking them with real cases in a clear and insightful manner, from which everyone benefited greatly and gained new insights.
At the Graduate Institute of Labor Research, National Chengchi University, Dean Chyi-Herng Chang introduced the development history, teaching resources and student employment directions of the Graduate Institute of Labor Research to our teachers and students. Associate Professor Huei-Ling Wang and Associate Professor Jenn-Jou Chen had a special exchange with our teachers and students on labor relations in China’s Taiwan Region, dispatched labor, implementation of the Labor Standards Act, prevention and control of occupational diseases, and labor relations in Taiwan-funded enterprises.
Our university's visiting group also visited the chocolate factory and Taoyuan Sake Brewery in China’s Taiwan Region, learned about the corporate culture and production process of the two companies, conducted in-depth exchanges with trade union representatives, investigated the labor-capital situation of the companies, and extended the understanding of the status and roles of the three parties in local labor relations.
Through this study exchange in China’s Taiwan Region, the teachers and students of our university have gained a preliminary understanding and multifaceted reflections on the labor relations situation there. At the same time, this exchange also enhanced the friendship between our university and the Chinese Culture University and the Graduate Institute of Labor Research, National Chengchi University, laying a good foundation for future visits and cooperation.
