From the beginning of February to the beginning of March 2009, Professor Feng Tongqing paid academic visits to the United States and Australia as well as Hong Kong Special Administrative Region upon invitation.
When in the United States, Professor Feng Tongqing visited Harvard University and held academic exchanges with experts and scholars from the Labor and Worklife Program, the Harvard Labor Union Program, and the Harvard Labor Training Center. He also visited Elizabeth J. Perry, President of Harvard-Yenching Institute and had an academic exchange. At the University of California, Berkeley, Professor Feng Tongqing exchanged academic views with scholars in labor law, sociology, environmental studies, demography, and other fields at the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment and the Labor Studies and Education Center. He also visited employment and training service centers in Maryland and other institutions.
When in Australia, Professor Feng Tongqing participated in the "China-Australia Labor Law Implementation Seminar" held by the Melbourne Law School, and delivered a keynote speech on "Progress of Chinese Trade Unions in Addressing Wage Delays of Workers and Analysis of Existing Problems - the State-led System Should Shift Towards Coordination and Negotiation Between Workers and Employers". Chinese experts and scholars from the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, Peking University, Beijing Normal University, Nanjing University, and other institutions, as well as experts and scholars from Australia and the United States, had extensive academic exchanges. Chinese experts and scholars also observed collective labor dispute mediation activities of the Australian Fair Work Commission and visited labor civil society organizations such as the Australian Workers' Rights Legal Center.
During his visit to Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Professor Feng Tongqing visited the Labor Department, the Occupational Safety & Health Council, and the Employees Compensation Assistance Fund Board and other institutions. At the Center for China Studies of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Professor Feng Tongqing delivered a speech titled "The Review of Theoretical Studies of Labor Relations Since China's Reform and Opening Up", and had academic exchanges with relevant scholars and experts.
