On August 31, the 2025 Freshman Opening Ceremony was held at the sports stadium of the Zhuozhou Campus. In attendance were Liu Xiangbing, Party Committee Secretary of the University, President Fu Deyin, Vice Presidents Liu Lihong, Wu Wanxiong, Li Ke, and Wen Xiaoyi, Party Committee members Dai Xiaoxiao and Li Dong. Deans (Directors) of colleges (departments), Party General Secretaries (Deputy Secretaries), heads of various departments, faculty and student representatives, and all 2025 freshmen participated in the ceremony, which was presided over by Liu Lihong.
The ceremony officially began with the solemn melody of the national anthem.
President Fu Deyin, on behalf of the University’s leadership and all faculty and staff, extended a warm welcome and sincere congratulations to the new students from all over the country, as well as to students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, overseas Chinese, and international students. He pointed out that China University of Labor Relations has a long history and a glorious mission. The red gene is deeply imprinted in the University’s blood and has never faded. Today, the University has developed a unique style of running the University. It is committed to the connotative development path of “specialization, refinement, and excellence,” and has implemented the development strategy of “modern university” and “deep industry” in parallel. It has become an important base for talent training in the field of labor and trade unions in China, the highest academy for training trade union cadres, and a high-end think tank for trade union theory research.
Amidst the stirring and inspiring University song, the University leaders pinned the University badges on the representatives of the 2025 freshmen.
Liu Lihong inspired the 2025 freshmen with the story of Zhao Zhan Kui, an alumnus of Yan'an Workers' University and a national model worker.
Li Ke introduced the overall situation of the University’s undergraduate, graduate, international students, and Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese students’ joint enrollment in 2025. This year, the University has admitted a total of 1,550 undergraduate students, of whom 1,370 are above the key line, accounting for 88.39% of the total number of newly admitted undergraduate students, an increase of 12.84 percentage points compared to last year. The University has admitted 229 mainland postgraduate students, and for the first time, it has recruited students in five new professional directions, including public management, business administration, law, accounting, and resources and environment. A total of 18 Hong Kong postgraduate students have been admitted. The University has also admitted one Belarusian international student and five students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese. The University’s educational level is more diversified, and its internationalization process and regional influence have entered a new stage.
At the ceremony, Ji Wenwen, Deputy Dean of the Labor Education College and a faculty representative, encouraged the freshmen that university life is about thinking about growth and creation. It is necessary to define the value of one’s creative labor in learning, exploration, and practice.
Zhang Ziheng, an undergraduate student representative from the school of Safety Engineering, Yi Pengjia, a graduate student representative from the school of Public Management, Ponomarev Vladislav Yuryevich, an international student representative from the school of Cultural Communication, Li Yonglun, a representative of students admitted through the joint recruitment of Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese from the University of Trade Unions, and Yin Enhui, an undergraduate student representative from the school of Social Work, spoke in turn. International student representative Vladislav expressed his excitement and anticipation for studying in China. He said that studying Chinese at China University of Labor Relations is not just a language program, but a bridge across national boundaries, connecting knowledge and friendship, and closely linking the culture, academia, and hearts of China and Belarus.
The University’s opening ceremony ended successfully with warm applause from all teachers and students. We wish all students will gain rich knowledge, a perfect personality, and a vibrant youth at China University of Labor Relations.
