On the morning of November 17, at the invitation of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, Phonesane Vilaymeng, Vice President of the Lao Federation of Trade Unions (hereinafter referred to as "LFTU") led a delegation of 30 people to visit our university. Vice President Wu Wanxiong of our university received the delegation from the LFTU, with officials from the International Office of Cooperation and Exchange and the School of Trade Union Cadres Training attending the meeting.
Vice President Wu Wanxiong extended a warm welcome to Vice President Phonesane Vilaymeng and his delegation. He reviewed the friendly exchanges between our university and the LFTU, introduced the history and characteristics of our university, as well as the recent development and achievements in discipline construction, talent cultivation, trade union cadre training, and model worker education. He stated that China and Laos are friendly neighbors connected by mountains and rivers. Over the past 62 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, they have always had mutual understanding, sincere interactions, and mutual support, nurturing a deep friendship, and their cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results. He looked forward to more trade union delegations from countries along the Belt and Road visiting for exchanges, and welcomed the LFTU cadres and young students to visit our university for learning and exchange, promoting traditional friendship and making positive contributions to the building and growth of the China-Laos community with a shared future.
Vice President Phonesane Vilaymeng expressed gratitude for the warm reception at our university and briefly introduced the historical development of the LFTU. He said that the cooperation between China and Laos continues to deepen, and he hoped to learn more about and draw on the advanced practices and mature experience of trade union work in China through this exchange. He looked forward to using this visit as an opportunity to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with our university, so that more trade union cadres from Laos can receive good training and education.
During the visit, Professor Zhang Caiming, Vice Dean of the School of Labor Relations and Human Resources of our university, gave a lecture to the delegation on the topic of "Smart Trade Unions in the Digital Society", and engaged in in-depth discussions with the delegation members on topics such as collecting information of trade union members, the 12351 worker service hotline, and the construction and maintenance of trade union websites, with enthusiastic interaction and feedback. This training and lecture further promoted the theoretical innovation of socialist trade unions with Chinese characteristics, the working mechanism of trade unions, and the practical achievements of trade unions, facilitating mutual understanding between trade unions of China and Laos, enhancing unity and friendship among trade union cadres of the two countries, and laying a good foundation for our university to continue conducting international trade union cadre training programs in the future.
After the training, the two sides exchanged commemorative gifts. During the visit, Vice President Wu Wanxiong accompanied the delegation to visit the university history museum and the theme exhibition "The New Era is Achieved through Hard Work" - our university's exhibition on studying and implementing the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's reply letter.
The LFTU was established in 1956 and is the only national trade union organization in Laos, with a current membership of 220,000. It is politically affiliated with the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and is a member of the World Federation of Trade Unions. The LFTU has always attached great importance to developing friendly relations with Chinese trade unions, maintaining close ties with the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, and consistently supporting the positions and concerns of Chinese trade unions in international labor movements.
