From March 27 to 31, James L. Unmack and Joseph F. Kukla, senior experts at the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), came to the CULR at the invitation of the Schoolt of Safety Engineering, to conduct a 5-day overseas professional qualification training and professional academic exchange for certified industrial hygienists (CIH) in the United States. All teachers in the Occupational Health Teaching and Research Office and some teachers in related majors participated in the training and exchange activities throughout the whole process, and Professor Meng Yanhua, director of the School of Safety Engineering, presided over the activities.
The professional qualification training and academic exchange activities focused on the qualification abilities of registered industrial hygienists in the United States. These activities covered nearly 30 subjects, including occupational hazard thresholds, personal protection, toxicology, occupational hazard analysis chemistry, ventilation, noise and vibration control, radiation protection, and industrial hygiene ethics.、
Participants in this qualification training and academic exchanges include national scientific research institutions, relevant professional staff and researchers of internationally renowned enterprises or companies in China such as the Occupational Hazards Research Institute of China Academy of Safety Science and Technology under the State Administration of Work Safety, General Electric (GE) Asia Pacific Regional Director of Environmental Health and Safety, GE Asia Regional Health and Safety Manager, ConocoPhillips China Health Safety and Environment Director, Motorola, and ABB.
This qualification training and academic exchange activity will play a positive role in strengthening the construction of the CULR's occupational health professional education capacity, promoting academic and international exchanges and cooperation, and facilitating the establishment of occupational health disciplines to better meet the needs of social development.
