Invited by Professor Schörmeier and Professor Knütel at the Law School, University of Bonn, Germany, Dr. Shen Jianfeng, a faculty member of the Law School of the China University of Labor Relations (CULR), attended the international academic seminar on "Rome-Europe-Asia: Cultural Perspectives and Doctrinal Inquiry in the Succession of Foreign Law" held at the Law School of the University of Bonn, Germany, on November 21 and 22, 2011. Scholars from Germany, the United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, South Korea, China and other countries attended this seminar.
Dr. Shen Jianfeng delivered a keynote report at the seminar in German with the title of "Formation of General Terms of Negligent Infringement in China's New Tort Law". In the more than 30-minute report, Dr. Shen Jianfeng introduced the evolution of the general provisions of negligent infringement in China's tort law from paragraph 2 of Article 106 of the General Principles of the Civil Law to paragraph 1 of Article 6 of the Tort Law of the People's Republic of China, analyzed the impact of the 1964 Civil Code of the Russian Federation and the traditional European Civil Code on the formation of this article, and pointed out that modern Chinese law has a plurality of inherited objects, and Chinese law fundamentally follows a civil law tradition. The report has aroused strong interest and lively discussions among the scholars present at the seminar. Following the report, Dr. Shen Jianfeng answered questions raised by the attending scholars and engaged in discussions with them.
