At the invitation of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, Mr. Horst Mond, Director of the International Department of IG Metall, and Miss Christiane Wills, a section leader of the International Department of IG Metall, visited the CULR on the afternoon of November 19. Mr. Li Deqi, President of the CULR, met with the guests and presided over Mr. Mond's special lecture.
Mr. Mond's lecture focused on the topic of "The Impact of the European Financial Crisis on Germany and Europe, and the Current Situation of the IG Metall". During the lecture, he systematically addressed the current impact of the European financial crisis on the economies of European countries, as well as the basic situation of the IG Metall. He engaged in discussions with his audience on labor relations, unions, labor rights, and other issues in Europe, particularly in Germany.
In attendance with the delegation from IG Metall were representatives from the International Department of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the Beijing office of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, and officials from the German Embassy in China.
The IG Metall was established in October 1949 and is one of the most important industrial unions under the DGB German Trade Union Confederation, with over 2.5 million members. IG Metall has maintained a friendly cooperative relationship with Chinese trade unions and has been invited to visit and exchange with China on multiple occasions.
