From November 4 to 7, 2011, the 16th Social Asia Forum was held in Tokyo, Japan. More than 60 experts and scholars in the fields of labor relations, labor law, and trade unions from universities and trade union organizations in Japan, South Korea, and China's Taiwan Region attended the forum. A delegation of 8 people from the China University of Labor Relations (CULR) led by President Li Deqi attended this forum as a cooperation team.
Around the theme of "Current Economic and Employment Trends and Workers' Work and Livelihood Trends in East Asia", representatives of all parties made special reports on the recent development and changes in labor relations in their respective countries or regions. Pan Taiping, Xu Xiaojun and Ren Xiaoping from the CULR made thematic reports titled "Current Employment Situation and Employment Problems in the Chinese Mainland" and "Collective Bargaining of Wages in China - System Reflection and Improvement", respectively. They introduced the current employment situation in China, government measures, new progress in trade union work, as well as the status quo, problems and development trends of the current wage collective bargaining system in China in detail. Representatives from all parties also discussed and exchanged views on the content, effectively enhancing mutual understanding and friendship. The forum was a complete success.
The 17th Social Asia Forum is scheduled to be held in the Chinese mainland in October 2012 and hosted by the CULR.
