On the afternoon of October 24, at the invitation of the Higher Vocational College of the CULR, Professor Barry Guan, Secretary General of the Australia Vocational Education Alliance (AVEA) and Dr. Bryan West visited the Zhuozhou campus of the CULR. Liu Xiangbing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the CULR, and Li Huadong, Member of the Party Committee Standing Committee and Vice President of the CULR, met with the guests. Luo Xuhua, Director of the Higher Vocational College, Zhou Baishun, Secretary of the Party General Branch and some teachers, as well as staff from the CULR's Foreign Affairs Office, participated in the relevant activities.
During the meeting, President Liu Xiangbing warmly welcomed the two guests and outlined the overall situation of the CULR and the operation of higher vocational education. He hoped that this meeting could help enhance the connection between the CULR and Australian universities, establish a mutual visit mechanism, and further promote inter-university cooperation on the basis of existing cooperation in vocational education. Secretary General Barry Guan and Dr. West thanked the CULR’s counterparts for their warm reception and briefed them on the current situation and characteristics of vocational education in Australia. They hoped that both sides could learn from each other in vocational education for common development. Vice President Li Huadong had an in-depth discussion with the two guests at the hotel training center on topics related to vocational education, explaining the development process, discipline composition, and educational characteristics of the CULR's higher vocational education. Dr. West, based on his experience in vocational education in Australia, highlighted the position of vocational education in the Australian education system and its important role in driving industrial development in Australia. Both parties have also reached preliminary intentions for future discipline cooperation.
Escorted by the teachers from the Higher Vocational College, the two guests visited the garment processing training room, CNC training workshop, and hotel training center, attended the training courses, exchanged ideas with relevant teachers, and experienced the operation of cutting fabrics with electric scissors with great interest. They highly recognized the CULR's measures in school-enterprise cooperation and vocational skilled talent cultivation.
Finally, the two guests gave a special lecture on "Comparison and Prospective Analysis of the Vocational Education System between China and Australia" to students at the Zhuozhou Campus, and were appointed as visiting professors at the Higher Vocational College. Director Luo Xuhua awarded letters of appointment to them.
