On the afternoon of February 27, invited by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) and accompanied by Ma Jin, head of ACFTU's international liaison department, a delegation of six members from the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), including general secretary Charalambos Kyritsis and chairman Michael Mzwandile Makwayiba, visited CULR for exchanges. The delegation was received by CULR's president Fu Deyin and vice president Li Ke. The meeting was presided over by Li Ke, and attended by Dai Xiaoxiao, a standing member of the party committee and dean of the School of Trade Union Cadres Training, together with other colleagues from the publicity department of the party committee, the department of scientific research, and the office of international exchange and cooperation.
On behalf of CULR, president Fu Deyin extended a warm welcome to general secretary Charalambos Kyritsis and chairman Michael Mzwandile Makwayiba, and other members of the delegation. He affectionately reviewed the deep friendship between CULR and WFTU, and shared the university's historical evolution and educational characteristics, as well as the development and achievements of discipline building, talent cultivation, training of international union cadres, education of model workers, etc. in recent years. He anticipated that CULR continue the friendly tie with WFTU, and jointly explore substantive cooperation in region- and country-specific trade unions study, training of international union cadres, and other fields. He invited the young union cadres from WFTU to exchange and study at the university, and work together to boost the innovative progress of worldwide trade union governance, thereby injecting new vitality into the global trade union business.
General secretary Charalambos Kyritsis expressed his gratitude for CULR's warm reception and highly appreciated the university's achievements in discipline building, talent cultivation and international union cadre training. He indicated that WFTU always attaches great importance to trade union education and cadre training, and affirmed the significance of CULR as a platform of international exchanges and cooperation for trade unions, which plays a positive role in promoting exchanges and collaboration between China and the world. He hoped that under the guidance of WFTU and ACFTU, the research institutions under WFTU carry out in-depth cooperation with CULR, and invited experts and scholars from the university to attend WFTU's seminars worldwide, to spread the university's research outcomes and experiences in labor relations globally.
At the meeting, Dai Xiaoxiao, dean of the School of Trade Union Cadres Training, Xiao Zhu, director of the scientific research department, and Li Bingzhi, deputy director of the party committee publicity department shared CULR's union cadre training, research think tank development, and trade union publicity respectively.
During the visit, CULR's vice president Li Ke accompanied the delegation in visiting the university history museum, and the exhibition themed "The New Era Comes from Hard Work of the People"—CULR Studies and Implements the Spirit in President Xi Jinping's Reply Letter.
Founded on October 3, 1945 and headquartered in Athens, Greece, WFTU currently has 95 million members. Its member organizations are distributed in 126 countries, most of which are those from socialist countries and developing countries, forming an important force in the international trade union movement.
