Sent by the International Department of All-China Federation of Trade Unions, Associate Professor Qiao Jian, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, participated in the "Responsible Business and Human Rights -- New Challenges, New Approaches" Asia-pacific online forum held by UN Human Rights Council from June 9th to 12th, 2020. The forum was jointly organized by UN Human Rights Council Transnational Corporations Center, UN Development Programme, International Labour Organization, UN International Children's Emergency Fund and other agencies.
The forum aimed to explore issues such as human rights, environment, gender equality and decent work in the digital age. The National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce, the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council and the All-China Federation of Trade Unions sent representatives to attend the meeting, giving full play to the role of non-governmental diplomacy against the backdrop of the pandemic. On the forum, Associate Professor Qiao Jian submitted a paper entitled "Labor Relations Challenges and Policy Responses under the Coordinated Epidemic Prevention and Control: China's Experience in Constructing Decent Labor", which aimed to reflect China's labor policies and effects since the outbreak of COVID-19 from the perspective of scholars. He attended June 9th afternoon session themed “Promoting Decent Work for Sustainable Enterprises and Labor Compliance in Times of Crisis and Recovery”.
