On the morning of October 30, 2009, Mr. Lee Gorsuch, President of the City University of Seattle (CITYU), and Ms. Mary Remond, Asia-China Teaching Supervisor, led a team to visit the China University of Labor Relations (CULR). Li Deqi, President of the CULR, and Yang Hanping, Vice President of the CULR, warmly welcomed the visiting delegation.
This visit marks the first contact between the two universities. President Li Deqi introduced the basic information about the CULR, including its history, characteristics, faculties, and curriculum to the guests. President Lee Gorsuch presented the specific situation of the CITYU and its collaborative programs with universities in China and other countries. The two parties expressed their intention to cooperate in vocational education, undergraduate education, faculty training, and student exchange, and will discuss the specific modes of cooperation in the next phase of contact. Director Liu Yufang from the Academic Affairs Office and Director Wu Wanxiong from the Foreign Affairs Office participated in the reception.
The City University of Seattle, located in Seattle, Washington, is a well-known private university on the West Coast of the United States. Since its inaugural cooperation with China in 1995, the CITYU has established cooperative programs with several Chinese universities and was one of the first foreign universities recognized by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. Its international cooperation programs span across the United States and Europe, with its majors in "Business Administration" and "Educational Management" enjoying a high reputation in the Northwestern region of the United States. Additionally, the CITYU maintains good cooperative relationships with many multinational companies such as Boeing and Microsoft.
