In order to expand the cooperation and exchanges between the CULR and universities in China’s Taiwan Region, on December 3-5, a delegation of the CULR, led by Vice President Liu Yufang, was invited to China’s Taiwan Region for an exchange visit to National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, National Sun Yat-sen University, and Chinese Culture University, and signed an intercollegiate cooperation agreement.
On December 3, the delegation visited National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology. Professor Cheng-Yuan Chen, President of National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, met with Vice President Liu Yufang and the delegation, and extended a warm welcome to the delegation. President Cheng-Yuan Chen introduced the basic situation of National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology to the delegation, and fully affirmed the excellent performance of the students of the School of Safety Engineering of the CULR in the summer special course study activities held by the university this year. He hoped to further strengthen the cooperation between the two universities on the field of students exchange, summer short study programs and academic exchanges between teachers. Vice President Liu Yufang introduced the CULR's history and development, discipline setting, etc., and expressed his expectation to further carry out multi-faceted cooperation and exchanges with National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology. Subsequently, the delegation held discussions with relevant departments such as the Department of Safety, Health and Environmental Engineering and the Department of Finance of National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology on specific cooperation topics such as students exchange and teachers exchange between the two universities, and determined the cooperation plan for 2014. Professor Chen Zhengren, Chairperson of the Department of Safety, Health and Environmental Engineering of National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, Dr. Lin Junyi, Vice Chairperson of the Department of Finance, and some teachers from the two departments participated in the talks.
On December 4, the delegation visited National Chung Cheng University in Chiayi City. Professor Shu-Lung Yang, Vice President of National Chung Cheng University; Professor Tsai-Chuan Ma, Director of the Department of Labor Relations and Professor Liang-Chih Huang; Director Lin Yueqiao of the Division of International Development of the Office of International Affairs; and Director Tang Jingwen of the Division of International Academic Cooperation of the Office of International Affairs held talks with the delegation on the cooperation and exchange plans of the two universities. The two sides unanimously stated that from next year, they will carry out all-round cooperation in terms of semester exchange programs, research and teaching staff exchanges, and joint promotion of research plans for students from similar professional departments of the two universities. After the meeting, Vice President Liu Yufang and Vice President Shu-Lung Yang signed the memorandum of cooperation and exchange between the two universities on behalf of the two universities.
On December 5, the delegation visited the Chinese Culture University in Taipei. Professor Li Tianren, President of the University, Dr. Jin Zongmei, Director of Academic Affairs, Dr. Li Kongzhi, Director of Mainland China Affairs, Associate Professor Yang Zhongli, Team Leader, and Chen Peiling, Director of Cooperation with Mainland China of the Department of Promotion and Education, met and held talks with the delegation. Professor Li Tianren, President of Chinese Culture University, welcomed Vice President Liu Yufang and his delegation to the university for the first time, and affirmed the positive and fruitful cooperation between the two universities in the field of labor relations for many years, hoping this visit will be an opportunity to further expand the cooperation between the two universities in other fields. The two sides held consultations on cooperation projects such as student exchange programs (semester), short-term cultural exchanges in the summer, and cooperation in holding academic seminars, and reached a consensus. President Li Tianren and Vice President Liu Yufang signed the academic cooperation and exchange agreement on behalf of the two universities. After the meeting, the delegation also visited the Department of Labor Relations, the Department of Political Science, the Department of Economics and the Department of Promotion and Education of the Chinese Culture University.
This is the first official exchange visit of the CULR to universities in China’s Taiwan Region and the signing of intercollegiate cooperation agreements. Beginning in 2014, the CULR will officially launch student exchange study programs and teacher exchange visit programs with friendly colleges and universities in China’s Taiwan Region. The delegation that accompanied Vice President Liu Yufang to China’s Taiwan Region included Wu Wanxiong, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office; Wang Shufen, Director of Academic Affairs; Meng Yanhua, Director of the School of Safety Engineering; and Yan Xiaofei, Director of the School of Economic Management.
