On September 20, the eighth International Science and Practice Conference themed "World of Work in the 21st Century: Labor Productivity and Remuneration" was held by the Academy of Labor and Social Relations (ATISO) in both virtual and physical forms. The conference was attended by the ATISO President Nina N. Kuzmina, International University “MITSO” President Yury K. Kovalyono and Trade Union University President Le Manh Hung. Professor Fu Deyin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the CULR, and Professor Yan Xiaofei, Director of the Department of Scientific Research of the CULR were invited to attend online, together with more than 30 scholars, experts and practitioners from Russia, Belarus, France, Vietnam, Mongolia, and Azerbaijan.
In the speech, President Fu Deyin extended warm congratulations on the convening of the event. He briefly reviewed the long-term close cooperation and deep friendship between the two universities, and said such intercollegiate exchange epitomizes the friendly cooperation between the two countries and is a significant part of public diplomacy. He noted that the theme of the conference is not only a topic of common interest for the teachers and students of the two universities, but also a topic of common concern for political and academic communities of all countries around the world. Considering the future development in the Fourteenth Five-year Plan period, we need to further study the topics to give better play to the role of trade unions, expand the channels for increasing residents' income, enlarge the middle-income class and improve the mechanism of income redistribution. He expected that in the future the two universities work with other friendly schools and institutions to focus on academic research topics, set up more platforms for exchanges and cooperation, share academic research outcomes, and further explore space for collaboration and exchanges.
In the academic discussion session, Professor Yan Xiaofei made a presentation titled Narrow the Gap of Human Capital and Promote Common Prosperity for All Employees to explain the research motivation from the angles of national strategy and existing challenges. She said that while transforming the world's socioeconomic layout, the wave of technological innovation represented by artificial intelligence also brings about significant change to the nature of jobs, and enlarging input of human capital is the key to addressing the challenge. Through the characteristics and trends of three different groups with high, medium and low human capital inputs, she pointed out that China's workforce is undergoing a new round of structural reform, and the differences in human capital significantly affect the employment structure, income level and income gap of employees. For the building and development of China's workforce in the new era, it is critical to enlarge the input of human capital, increase individual incomes and achieve common prosperity for all employees. The attending audience appreciated the impressive presentation of Professor Yan Xiaofei, and commented that the differentiation among different sectors and employee groups in the presentation is quite pertinent and innovative, with guiding significance for improving labor productivity and its remuneration.
At the conference, delegates from Russia, Belarus, Vietnam and Mongolia had in-depth discussions and exchanges on "labor productivity and its remuneration", "dynamic forecast of labor productivity and wage income based on the present macroeconomic factors", "from an efficiency-oriented approach to a people-oriented approach", "tentative comments on the relation between wage income and labor productivity: Vietnam as an example" and other topics.
By participating in the conference, the CULR has further consolidated the academic exchange outcomes with the ATISO and other universities with similar backgrounds of trade unions, enhanced our reputation among international higher education and research institutions, and expanded our international presence and influence in relevant academic research fields, which is of great significance to all the participating universities for talent cultivation, research cooperation and cultural exchange in the future.
