On the afternoon of May 29, the International Academic Seminar on the Modern Value of Confucianism in Politics and Social Practice, jointly organized by the China University of Labor Relations (CULR) and the Academy of Labor and Social Relations (ATISO), was held both online and offline at Room 509, Zhiyuan Building, Beijing Campus of the CULR. Researcher Li Ke, a member of the Party Committee, Vice President, and Director of the Department of Labor Union of the CULR, and Vladimir Zhukovsky, Vice President of the ATISO, attended the seminar and delivered speeches. More than 30 teachers and student representatives from the School of Marxism, School of Culture and Communication, and School of Social Work participated in the seminar.
Vice President Li Ke congratulated the successful convening of the seminar in his speech. He said that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, as well as the opening year of the China-Russia Years of Culture. This seminar is of great significance for better inheriting and promoting Confucian culture, deepening cultural exchanges between China and Russia, and promoting the quality and upgrading of cooperation between the two universities. He sincerely invited the Russian delegation to participate in the 75th anniversary of the CULR to enhance mutual trust and deepen friendship.
Vice President Vladimir Zhukovsky stated that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the International Confucian Association and the 2575th anniversary of Confucius' birth. Against the backdrop of an increasingly diverse and integrated world, understanding and inheriting Confucianism is of great significance for enhancing international exchanges and cooperation between the two universities.
During the report session, Professor Sergey Konyaev and Associate Professor Pavel Feldman from the Department of Philosophy and Sociology of the Russian side respectively delivered keynote speeches titled "The Importance of Confucianism in Establishing a Just and Rational World Order" and "The Development and Evolution of Confucian Thought: From the Past to the Present". Associate Researcher Xu Tao, Dean of the School of Marxism and Deputy Secretary of the General Party Branch, and Associate Professor Xie Wenchao from the School of Culture and Communication respectively delivered keynote speeches titled "The Modern Contributions of Confucianism to the Prosperity and Integration of World Civilizations" and "The Modern Value of Confucius' Benevolent Thought".
During the interactive exchange session, representatives of teachers and students from both universities conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on topics such as the Confucian thought system, the influence of Confucianism on the practice of social security systems, and its role in maintaining international order.
