Three teachers of our unviersity recently attended academic workshops outside the Chinese mainland to learn about academic frontiers, exchange academic views and explore academic perspectives.
On January 16 to 19, the 8th International Conference of Han-Character Education and Research was held in Tokyo, Japan, which was attended by 150 scholars and experts from Chinese-speaking countries and regions including Associate Professor Jiang Yan from the School of Culture and Communication of our university. The conference covered a wide range of topics such as Han-character education philosophy, Han-character materials, Han-character education methodology, Han-character education technology, classical Chinese education, basic theory of Han-characters, interpretation and sorting of Han-characters and comparison of Han-characters. At the conference, Associate Professor Jiang Yan on behalf of scholars of the Chinese mainland and our unviersity made a presentation titled "A Briefing of Flexible Use of Fu Shan's Traditional Linguistics Methods". The attending experts had in-depth discussions and exchanges on the presentation, and sang high praise for the breadth and depth of Jiang Yan's study.
From January 31 to February 4, the 9th annual conference and academic conference of Taiwan Association of Psychodrama (TAP) was held at Feng Chia University in Taichung. Associate Professor Wang Xiaohui and teacher Meng Xianhong from the School of Labor Union of our university participated in the event. The conference was attended by more than 300 scholars, experts and practitioners from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, China’s Taiwan Region, the United States and Malaysia. The conference fully affirmed the progress of psychodrama and its contribution to the society in recent years, as well as the related innovation in higher education. During the stay in China’s Taiwan Region, the two teachers also participated in a three-day workshop prior to the conference, themed with "psychodrama and social drama: a journey from personal healing to social healing". Led by Catherine Neugent, executive director of the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy (ABEPSGP), they were actively involved in workshop discussions, carefully learned the operational methods of psychodrama and social drama, and finally obtained the course certificate.
Our unviersity has always prioritized and encouraged teachers' participation in academic exchanges and discussions at home and abroad, and endeavored to build platforms for teachers to broaden professional horizons and conduct international exchanges. In recent years, we saw widening channels and growing opportunities of teachers going outside the Chinese mainland for international academic exchanges, which both enhance the capability of scientific research and effectively improve the teaching quality.
