It was moderated by Vice President Li Ke.
In his concluding remark, President Fu Deyin affirmed the importance of the research program, and put forward four requirements for its overall advancement. First, the program is to reflect CULR's work deployment on deepening the study of international labor movement, support China's trade union diplomacy strategy, and further improve the university's research internationalization. Second, the research should be precisely positioned so that the research report concentrates on trade unions by region and country, selects major intended countries, and deliberates topics such as international organizations, trade unions in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan regions, and overseas employment of Chinese enterprises. Third, a framework of study by region and country should be established to collect sufficient data and study the training of cadres and building of talent teams, so as to advance data collection in parallel with the formulation of report. Fourth, a research team should be fostered to carry out academic research in accordance with the model of database construction, do a good job in fundamental work, and endeavor to develop several influential reports.
At the meeting, Director Yan Xiaofei proposed three comments on the research plan. First, the report positioning is critical to the program outcome, so that the research team should clearly understand the service targets of the report, leverage CULR's advantage in theoretical research, and ensure the authoritative results of the study of trade unions by country. Second, the research should be sustainable. When selecting the key countries for study, the research team should consider the relationship between generality and specificity, and tell good stories about Chinese trade unions. Third, the structure and framework of the report should be further consolidated, and the content be refined, accurate and innovative. Dr. Wang Kan, leader of the research program and Director of the Comparative Trade Union Research Center of the School of Labor Union, made a presentation on the research plan. Experts including Xiao Zhu, Director of the Scientific Research Department and Professor Emeritus Lin Yanling gave their suggestions on issues such as target readers of the report and means of selecting the most representative countries.
Next, the research team will follow the recommendations of the expert augmentation meeting, deepen the study of trade unions by region and country, analyze the interaction between international and domestic labor movements, and judge the development trends, so as to formulate a high-quality research report.
