With the approval of the General Secretariat of the ACFTU, the 16th China-Japan University Students' Internship Exchange Activity jointly organized by the CULR and the Faculty of Modern China Studies of Aichi University, Japan and hosted by the Suzhou Federation of Trade Unions ended successfully in Suzhou on August 18, 2014. 22 students from Aichi University and 12 students from the CULR and some instructors from the two universities jointly participated in the internship exchange activity in China.
With the strong support of the Jiangsu and Suzhou Federations of Trade Unions, university students from both countries were divided into three groups. During the two-week exchange and inspection period, they visited the suburban communities, villages and some enterprises in Suzhou, and visited community institutions, families, nursing homes, workers' cultural palaces, tourist destinations, eco-agricultural parks, fishing villages, farmers' markets, aquaculture farmers, tea farmers, and some enterprises and self-employed households in Suzhou. During the visit, under the guidance of the teachers of the two universities, the students formed various groups of thematic research reports, and jointly held a special report on the field practice of the students on August 16. With their unique perspectives, the students respectively reported and demonstrated the results of their internship survey, especially those from the Japanese university, who vividly introduced the personal feelings of visiting China's economy and society and the warm, friendly and caring people from Suzhou.
At the seminar, President Li Deqi of the CULR, Peng Yong, Secretary-General of the China Workers' Center for International Exchange, Gao Huiqin, Vice President of the Suzhou Federation of Trade Unions, Abe Satoru, Dean of the Faculty of Modern Chinese Studies at Aichi University in Japan, and representatives of Aichi University alumni spoke on topics such as strengthening cultural exchanges between Chinese and Japanese university students, enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between young people of the two countries, and jointly carrying out talent training and education cooperation. Professor Li Shuang, Director of the School of Culture and Communication, fully affirmed and praised the seriousness, rigor, mutual assistance, and pragmatic academic spirit of China-Japan college students participating in the field internship study. Wu Wanxiong, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the CULR, expressed gratitude on behalf of the school to the Suzhou Federation of Trade Unions and Aichi University of Japan for their strong support for this event and cooperation over the years, and presented souvenirs to their representatives.
The Internship Exchange Activity in China is a long-term student exchange activity between the CULR and Aichi University in Japan. The successful holding of this internship exchange activity has established a new platform for academic exchange and talent training between the two universities, showing a good foundation and prospect for friendly cooperation between the two universities.
