On the morning of December 26th, the 5th council meeting of Silk Road Think Tank Association and the "Belt and Road" High-end Think Tank Forum was held in Beijing with the theme of “High-quality Co-construction of ‘Belt and Road Initiative’: Direction and Path”. The forum was co-sponsored by the Secretariat of the Silk Road Think Tank Association and the International Department of the CPC Central Committee. SONG Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the forum, and more than 150 representatives from domestic council members of the Silk Road Think Tank Association (hereinafter referred to as “Think Tank Association”) attended the forum. Associate Professor QIAO Jian, Director of the Department of International Exchange and Cooperation of CULR, and Director of the Institute of Belt and Road and Labor Relations, attended the forum on behalf of CULR.
In his opening speech, Minister SONG Tao pointed out that General Secretary Xi Jinping attaches great importance to the role of think tanks in national governance and the construction of "Belt and Road". A lot of fruitful work has been carried out in policy interpretation, investigation and research in the past 5 years since the founding of the Think Tank Association. It is hoped that the Think Tank Association will further understand the quintessence of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important exposition on "Belt and Road", strengthen the ability to serve the construction of "Belt and Road", build the theoretical system and discourse system of "Belt and Road", and enhance the internal construction of the Think Tank Association.
The conference held thematic discussions on topics such as changes in the external environment for the construction of the “Belt and Road” , trilateral cooperation in the construction of the “Belt and Road” , the cooperation matching mechanisms, and the new type of international relations in the construction of the “Belt and Road”. On the conference, CULR was elected as the new council member of the Think Tank Association.
Becoming a council member of the Think Tank Association marks CULR's development in the field of think tank construction and scientific research.
