On the afternoon of March 31, the Seminar on "Comparison of History and Status Quo of Trade Union Movement between China and Russia" co-organized by the International Office of Cooperation and Exchange, School of Marxism, School of Labor Union, and School of Trade Union Cadres Training was held in Conference Room 509 in Zhiyuan Building, and online. The seminar invited Ms. Nina Kuzmina, President of the Russian Academy of Labor and Social Relations (the ATISO) and the representatives of teachers and students from the ATISO. Professor Fu Deyin, President of the CULR delivered a welcoming remark at the seminar. The seminar was moderated by Vice President Wu Wanxiong and attended by more than 40 representatives including the teachers from the CULR's School of Marxism, School of Labor Union, Training School for Trade Union Cadres and research think tanks, the students from the School of Social Work and the model worker students from the School of Continuing Education.
In the welcoming remark, President Fu Deyin of the CULR extended congratulations on the opening of the seminar, reviewed the long-standing cooperative relationship between the two universities, and expected the two sides to continue to strengthen exchanges and communication on discipline construction and carry out more pragmatic research and collaboration.
President Nina Kuzmina of the ATISO affirmed the long-term intercollegiate activities of mutual visits of teachers and students and academic exchanges, and highly anticipated the broad prospects of cooperation and exchanges between the two sides.
Vice President Wu Wanxiong said in the concluding remark that this seminar is a successful academic exchange activity via video link between the two trade union universities in China and Russia during the pandemic period. The ATISO is one of the CULR's earliest overseas partners, and the two universities have quite a few similarities in educational position, teaching characteristics, background of trade union and mission of union cadres training, which serve as a solid foundation of the friendly and cooperative relationship in a long run. He hoped that in the future the two universities would continue communication and dialogue, keep exploring new fields of collaboration and make new achievements.
The first session of presentations was moderated by Professor Grishina Tatiana, Director of the International Exchange Center and Continuing Education School of the ATISO. Professor Vyacheslav Goncharov, Director of the Department of Trade Union Movement of the ATISO made a presentation titled The History of Russian Soviet Trade Union Movement and its Influence on China. He said that Russia and China have plenty of similarities in the history of the trade union movement, and the present structural changes and issues of trade unions, so closer connectivity between the two sides will contribute to the unity rooted in the history of trade unions of the two countries. Zhong Xuesheng, Assistant Dean of the School of Labor Union and the School of Trade Union Cadres Training and the Director of the Teaching and Research Division of Chinese Labor Movement History of the CULR made a presentation titled The Centenary Journey, Achievements and Basic Experience of Chinese Labor Movement. Based on the great achievements of the Chinese labor movement in different periods, he fully recognized the basic experience of the development path of socialist trade unions with Chinese characteristics, and noted that the trade union work should always keep pace with the times through persistent reform and innovation.
The second session of presentations was moderated by Professor Pan Taiping, Vice Dean of the School of Labor Union and the School of Trade Union Cadres Training of the CULR. President Nina Kuzmina made a presentation titled The Present Status, Problems and Work Barriers of Trade Unions in Russia. She shared the present status of trade union organizations in Russia, explained the composition, forms, and objectives of social partnership of labor, and analyzed the problems of Russian trade unions in the current context of economic and social transformations. Yang Dongmei, Honorary President of the School of Labor Union and the School of Trade Union Cadres Training of the CULR made a presentation titled The Present Status and Development Trends of Chinese Trade Union Work in the New Era. She explained the present status and development trends of Chinese trade union work in the new era, and analyzed the existing opportunities and challenges of trade unions, with a focus on the new progress of trade union work.
In the consultation session, Professor Pavel Feldman from the Department of Philosophy and Sociology, Svetlana Demidova, Deputy Director of the Trade Union Movement Institute, Svetlana Tatarnikova, Deputy Director of the Labor Relations and Social Partnership Center of the Trade Union Movement Institute, Associate Professor Alexey Zenkov from the Department of Trade Union Movement of the ATISO, Professor Dai Wenxian of the CULR and Professor Liu Yuanwen from the CULR's School of Labor Union and the School of Trade Union Cadres Training had in-depth discussions and exchanges on topics such as fair and impartial social labor relations, social cooperation partnership, trade union education and talents, role and trends of trade unions, and the influence of Chinese and Russian trade unions. Professor Qiao Jian, Director of the CULR's International Office of Cooperation and Exchange gave an academic evaluation of the seminar, and called on the young students from the two universities to further strengthen communication, exchanges, and cooperation in the future.
