From August 5 to 23, the selected 13 students and faculty from CULR travelled to the ILO Training Center in Turing, Italy to join the United Nations Young Leaders Summer Training Programme together with students and faculty from 16 universities including Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Harbin Institute of Technology and Jilin University. China University of labor Relations was appointed as the Secretariat of “UN Young Elites Education and Exchange Alliance”.
During the programme, Dr ZU Liangrong, the senior official of the ILO, gave a detailed introduction to the background of the United Nations and the course structure of the training programme. Officials and experts from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) , the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the training center of the ILO delivered excellent lectures to the participants. MS. Lisa Tortell, legal expert from the ILO International Labor Standards Department, distributed the 100th anniversary publication of the International Labour Organization - Rules of The Game - to our faculty and students. In addition to the study of professional knowledge, faculty and students of CULR also visited the International Labour Organization (ILO) , the World Health Organization (WHO) and other United Nations international organizations for learning.
During the training programme, students from CULR actively organized and participated in activities, and achieved outstanding results. ZHANG Linlin, the student team leader, jointly launched and read out the "GYLA Declaration" with students from 16 universities; HE Ji’ang from the School of Culture and Communication and YE Yongxin from the School of Labor Relations and Human Resources produced a special video titled "Ode to the Labourer"; HE Wenbo from the School of Law and CHEN Qian from the School of Economics and Management jointly edited and published an article on the WeChat official account "Voice of ILO" for the International Young leaders Training Programme; GAO Yaqing from the School of Labor Relations and Human Resources and SHEN Songyang from the School of Public Administration participated in Talent show with waltz dance; Zhang Linlin from the Trade Union School, LIN Chunru from the School of Public Administration and HE Wenbo from the School of Law participated in the Chinese Cultural Festival and displayed Chinese national costumes and calligraphy. Students also used their spare time to invite international organizations’ officials and instructors to record blessing videos for the 70th anniversary of CULR. After the training programme, LIN Qianyu from the School of Law, YIN Xinyi from the School of Public Administration won the title of “excellent participant”, and ZHANG Linlin of the Trade Union School won the award of special contribution.
This training not only enabled students to understand the operation of international organizations, learn the rules of international affairs, and develop the diplomatic ability to participate in global governance, but also laid a solid foundation for students’ career.
