The First Northeast Asia Forum on labor relations, co-sponsored by CULR, Korea Employment and Labor Educational Institute, the Academy of Labor and Social Relations, and Japan Productivity Center for Socio-Economic Development, was successfully held on April 29, 2008, in Zhonggong Plaza. More than 20 experts and scholars from China, South Korea, Russia, and Japan gathered to discuss "China's Labor Legislation: Changes and Impacts". Mr. Peng Yong, Deputy Director of the International Liasion Department of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, Mr. Tian Xiaobao, President of the Chinese Academy of Labor and Social Security, and Prof. Cheng Yanyuan of the School of Labor and Human Resources of Renmin University of China, were invited to attend the forum.
The opening ceremony of the forum was presided over by Prof. Shen Qinqin, Vice President. Vice Director Peng Yong congratulated the convening of the Forum. President LiDeqi from the CULR, President Son Han Sam from the Korea Employment and Labor Educational Institute, President Shulus from the Academy of Labor and Social Relations, and President Tsuneaki Taniguchi from the Japan Productivity Center for Socio-Economic Development delivered speeches on behalf of the four parties. Prof. Jiang Ying from the Department of Law of CULR delivered a keynote speech on "China's Labor Contract Law and Chinese Government's Policy". Prof. Tian Xiaobao and Prof. Cheng Yanyuan also expressed their views on the legislation and impact of labor contract law. In the afternoon, the other three parties made keynote speeches, introducing the labor legislation of the three countries and the responses made by their domestic enterprises which have invested in China to the Chinese labor contract law. After sufficient exchanges, the four parties had an in-depth interactive discussion on the topics of the Forum.
Mr. Yan Hui, Secretary of the CULR's CPC Committee made a summary of the forum. He pointed out that through this forum, the four parties had friendly and comprehensive exchanges, and reached a lot of consensus on the next step of cooperation, which will lay a solid foundation for future cooperation between the four parties and the bilateral relationship. At the same time, the four parties agreed that the second forum in 2009 will be hosted by the Academy of Labor and Social Relations.
Following the successful completion of the agenda, the First Northeast Asia Labor Relations Forum was successfully concluded.
