On the morning of March 31, a delegation of 6 people led by Chau Siu-chung, Secretary-General of the Federation of Hong Kong and Kowloon Labour Unions (HKFLU), and Zhou Wei, Deputy Director of the Social Work Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, came to the Beijing campus for a friendly visit. Liu Xiangbing, Secretary of the Party Committee of our university, met with Secretary-General Chau Siu-chung and his delegation in the VIP room.
Secretary Liu Xiangbing extended a warm welcome to Secretary-General Chau Siu-chung and his delegation. He introduced the construction of the "labor +" and "trade union +" disciplinary system and the development pattern of "one body and two wings" in our university, and the good achievements in disciplinary construction, talent cultivation, union cadre training, think tank construction, etc. He pointed out that our university is in a leading position in research fields such as labor education, labor relations, theory of the working class and trade unions, and trade union law. Our university has always implemented the principle of "one country, two systems", attached importance to cultivating talents for the labor movement in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Macao Special Administrative Region, and hoped to continue close exchanges with the HKFLU to jointly explore more diverse cooperation modes.
Subsequently, the two sides held an exchange and discussion in Conference Room 408 of Weishi Building. President Fu Deyin and Vice President Wu Wanxiong of our university attended the discussion, and leaders from the Department of Scientific Research(Institute of Labor Relations and Trade Unions), School of Graduates, and Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs participated in the discussion.
President Fu Deyin expressed his gratitude to the HKFTU, HKFLU and Hong Kong Liaison Office for their strong support for the university's work in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region and China’s Taiwan Region over the years. He pointed out that our university has several outstanding characteristics. First, the university's teaching and scientific research work closely centers on the distinctive characteristics of "labor +" and "trade union +". Second, the university attaches great importance to the research in the field of trade unions and the training of trade union cadres, and fully supports and serves the central work of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions. Third, the university has gathered a number of experts and scholars in the field of trade unions and labor. Fourth, a series of brand projects have been formed, including model worker education, labor education, the diploma program and the MPA graduate training program in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. He said that on the basis of thoroughly implementing the principle of "one country, two systems", our university should continue to strengthen the friendly and cooperative relations between the two sides, improve the working exchange mechanism, give full play to the advantages of model worker education and model worker resources in our university, and expand the new fields of trade union cadre training and staff training.
Vice President Wu Wanxiong stated that it is both an honor and a sacred duty for our university to undertake the task of cultivating talents who love the country and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. This is a concrete manifestation of the principle of "one country, two systems" in practice. Holding a diploma program and MPA graduate program in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is very beneficial for expanding our university's discipline construction, broadening teachers' horizons, and enhancing teaching methods. In the future, our university will continue to attach great importance to teaching and talent cultivation in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and effectively manage curriculum and teacher assignments.
Secretary-General Chau Siu-chung expressed appreciation and gratitude for the significant contributions our university has made over the years in the career of cultivating union cadres who love the country and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and introduced the development history of HKFLU as well as the good achievements in safeguarding labor rights and promoting social prosperity. He stated that in the future, more young people and union cadres in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will be recommended to participate in the university's learning and training programs to enhance their own capabilities and professional skills. He also hoped to explore new models of diversified cooperation with the outstanding advantages of the university in the field of trade unions and labor.
During the meeting, the two sides reached a preliminary consensus on organizing training seminars, and strengthening cooperation in talent cultivation and think tank research.
After the meeting, Secretary-General Chau Siu-chung, Deputy Director Zhou Wei, and their delegation visited the theme exhibition "The New Era is Achieved through Hard Work" - our university's exhibition on studying and implementing the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's reply letter and the university history museum.

Founded in 1984, the Federation of Hong Kong and Kowloon Labour Unions, known as the HKFLU, is now the second largest trade union organization in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, with 165 member organizations and 130,000 members.
