On the afternoon of October 12, the delegation of Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions (HKFTU) consisting of Vice Chairman Lee Kwong Yu, Deputy General Secretary Tse Wang Yu and Regional Director of Government Staff Association Zou Guobin visited CULR on the occasion of CULR celebrating the 75th anniversary. The delegation was received by Fu Deyin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of CULR, as well as the persons in charge of the Office of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs, the School of Labor Models and the Office of Graduate Studies.
At the symposium, President Fu Deyin warmly welcomed Vice Chairman Lee Kwong Yu and his delegation. He reviewed the friendly exchanges with HKFTU over the past more than two decades, and once again thanked HKFTU for the kind condolence and generous donation to CULR's flood relief efforts in 2023. He noted that the digital economy has significantly changed labor relations and trade union work, and created a great number of new job opportunities. In the two technological innovation centers of Beijing and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA), their industrial transformation and upgrading pose new challenges and requirements on labor relations and union work. He stressed that as HKFTU is the largest and earliest labor organization in Hong Kong and CULR is the only university directly under ACFTU, both sides will have enormous space for further cooperation.
Vice Chairman Lee Kwong Yu expressed gratitude for the warm reception and congratulations on CULR's achievements over the past 75 years. He shared the opportunities and challenges of trade unions in Hong Kong in recent years, expressed his expectation for strengthening the digitalization of trade unions, and discussed ways to provide labor protection for the workers under new employment forms. He said that CULR has a solid foundation of theoretical research of labor relations and rich experience in labor union training, and looked forward to deeper cooperation and exchanges in the field of union training.
Both sides also had in-depth discussions and exchanges on topics such as optimization of the adult higher education courses and MPA graduate courses in Hong Kong, teaching force cultivation, improvement of managerial systems, and social practice activities for teachers and students.
After the meeting, the delegation visited the exhibition of "New Era Comes from Hard Work": CULR studies and implements the spirit of Chinese President Xi Jinping's reply letter, and the university history museum.
