The China-Canada Forum on Industrial Relations and Labor Employment was held at the Beijing Conference Center on May 6 and 7, 2011. The forum was organized in collaboration with the International Trade and Labour Program of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, the Centre for Public Policy and Legal Studies of York University, and the School of Labor Economics of the Capital University of Economics and Business. The attendees of the forum include officials, experts and scholars from the Embassy of Canada in China, the Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, the Ontario Labor Relations Board, the Government of Columbia, York University, the University of Montreal, the Multicultural History Society of Toronto, Baker McKenzie International Law Firm, Gowling WLG Law Firm, the Chinese and South Asian Legal Clinic in Toronto, the Mark Biagi Foundation of Italy, and the ILO Office in Beijing, as well as the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People's Republic of China, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the Chinese Academy of Labor and Social Security, City University of Hong Kong, Peking University, the Capital University of Economics and Business, Beijing Normal University, Renmin University of China and other institutions and universities.
The forum focused on issues related to labor relations and labor, employment discrimination, workplace labor standards, current labor relations, labor dispute handling, collective bargaining or collective negotiation, and labor policy development.
Professors Feng Tongqing and Zheng Qiao, and Associate Professor Qiao Jian from the CULR were invited to attend the forum. Professor Feng Tongqing and Associate Professor Qiao Jian delivered keynote speeches on "China's Institutional Resources for Resolving Labor Social Events" and "Current Status and Policy Orientation of Labor Relations in China towards the '12th Five-Year Plan' Period", respectively.
