From 26th to 27th October , the 2017 Annual Meeting of National Research Society of Trade Unions and Research Society of Chinese Workers’ History and the Present Status and the 33rd National Seminar on the Theory Teaching of Trade Union were held in Nanchang. This annual meeting was sponsored by our university, organized by Jiangxi Provincial Federation of Trade Unions Cadres University with the theme “Promoting the Reform and Innovation of Trade Unions in an All-round Way”. Qu Zengguo, President of the National Research Society of Trade Unions and Chairman of University Council of CULR, Wang Jiaoping, Deputy Director of the Research Department of ACFTU, Peng Hengjun, Deputy director of Network Department of ACFTU, Yan Xiaofei, Secretary General of the Research Society, member of University Council of CULR, Director of Scientific Research Office and Director of Economics Management Department, Yang Dongmei, Member University Council and Dean of Trade Unions School of CULR, attended the conference and more than 120 experts and scholars from our school, Trade Union Cadres Universities in various provinces and municipalities and local trade unions participated in the conference. Rao Jianming, Vice Chairman of Jiangxi Federation of Trade Unions attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

In his speech, Chairman Qu Zengguo pointed out that the annual meeting was of great significance on the occasion of successful close of the Party’s 19th National Congress with victories and understanding the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the whole party and the entire nation. Trade union theory research and teaching workers should conscientiously study the spirit of the 19th National Congress of CPC and further enhance their sense of responsibility in conducting theoretical research and teaching of trade union. At present, the socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era and opened up a new course of development. Under the new normal economic development, the labor relations have taken on new features. The conditions of the workforce have undergone new changes. The work of trade unions has been facing new situations. The teaching work has assumed new tasks and strengthened the theoretical studies and teaching of trade unions. The importance of strengthening trade union theoretical research and teaching was even more urgent. This required us to conscientiously study the spirit of the 19th National Congress of CPC, profoundly understand the spiritual essence and rich connotations of Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, firmly grasp the working rules of the trade unions and the longing for the good life of the workers and staff in the new age, and intensify investigations and studies, deepen the teaching reform, shoulder the mission of being the workers of theoretical research and teaching in trade unions, and provide theoretical and personnel support for adhering to the development path of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Chairman Qu emphasized that the mechanism and methods should be innovated, and the role of the Research Society of Trade Union should be further played. For the current and future work of the Research Society, Chairman Qu put forward three requirements: first, to better understand the spiritual essence and rich connotations of the socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era; second, to better promote the reform of the construction of industrial workers; third, tot better promote reform and innovation in trade union work.
