On the evening of October 11, a ceremony was held in Meeting Room 308 of Weishi Buiding, which demonstrated the appointment of Professor Bar Kyu-sik from the Korea Labor Institute (KLI) as a visiting professor of the China University of Labor Relations. The ceremony was presided by vice president Wu Wanxiong and attended by Liu Xiangbing, secretary of the Party Committee, Yan Xiaofei, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and director of Office of Research Affairs, as well as the heads of relevant functional departments of the university.
Secretary Liu Xiangbing extended a warm welcome to Professor Bae and his companions and congratulated him on becoming a visiting professor of the university.
He pointed out that in recent years, China University of Labor Relations had further clarified its development strategy, which aimed at building a first-class and internationally renowned university in the field of labor relations and labor unions on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the university. As Professor Bae is the president of the KLI, a well-known expert in the field of labor relations and also the leader of his academic team, China University of Labor Relations attached great importance to this appointment. It is also a clear testimony that the university will further its international cooperation, and especially reinforce its partnership with the KLI by promoting academic exchanges. Besides, the university is ready to learn Korea’s experiences in addressing issues of labor relations, so as to advance academic progress in this field.
At the ceremony, Professor Bae, on behalf of the KLI, congratulated China University of Labor Relations on its 70th anniversary and expressed gratitude for its warm reception. He said that he was honored to be a visiting professor and was willing to establish a new platform for mutual cooperation between China University of Labor Relations and the KLI, which would enable academics from the two to learn from and call on each other.
Secretary Liu Xiangbing also awarded Professor Bae a letter of appointment and had in-depth exchanges with him on how to further exchanges and cooperation between the two parties.

Professor Bae Kyu-sik is the President of the Korea Labor Institute (KLI). He has received a PhD in industrial and business studies from the University of Warwick, UK. He once served as a public interest committee member of the National Labor Relations Committee, the chief consultant of the Economic and Social Development Committee, and the convener of the Labor Market Institutional Reform Panel of the Economic and Social Development Committee. He has also provided advice and support to the Seoul Ministry of Employment and Labor and other government agencies.
