On July 18, the Summer Camp Opening Ceremony for Trade Union Youth in China’s Taiwan Region was held at our university. Jiang Guangping, Vice Chairman and Secretary of the Secretariat of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU), and Vice President of the China Workers' Center for International Exchange, Director Peng Yong and Deputy Director Liu Hong of the Office of the Leading Group for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs of the ACFTU, Liu Xiangbing, President of our university, Cheng Guoyi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and Wu Wanxiong, Vice President, attended the event.
Jiang Guangping, Vice Chairman and Secretary of the Secretariat of the ACFTU, and Vice President of the China Workers' Center for International Exchange, delivered a speech and presented the flag at the opening ceremony. In his sincere and friendly words, he wished the young people from the China’s Taiwan region could fully exchange, comprehensively experience, enhance communication, deeply appreciate the rich culture of the Chinese nation, and work together with the young people from the Chinese mainland to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the Chinese Dream.
Members of the summer camp, some young cadres of the ACFTU and student representatives attended the exchange conference across the Taiwan Strait. At the conference, Peng Yong, Director of the Office of the Leading Group for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs of the ACFTU, introduced the general work of the ACFTU, Zhan Shuai, Secretary of the Youth League Committee of our university, introduced the youth work of our university, and Chang Shuang, a teacher from the Foreign Affairs Office, introduced the interaction between our university and universities in China’s Taiwan region. After the conference, young people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait visited our university's history museum and had lunch together.
This year's summer camp is the seventh time since it has been held. It is composed of 50 young trade union members and students from the China’s Taiwan region, organized by the China Association for the Development of Labor Relations Across the Taiwan Straits, the Association for the Development and Exchange of Labor Relations Across the Taiwan Straits, the Committee for the Exchange of Labor Affairs Across the Taiwan Straits, the Taiwan Confederation of Trade Unions, and the Taiwan Federation of Labor, along with 31 young students from our university.
