On the afternoon of November 5, Yuwandia Moreira, Vice Chair of the Unified Workers' Central of Brazil (CUT), led a five-member delegation to CULR for an exchange visit at the invitation of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions. Liu Xiangbing, Party Secretary of CULR, and Li Ke, Vice President, welcomed the CUT delegation. Attending the discussion were Yan Xiaofei, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC and Director of the Publicity Department of CPC Committee, and Dai Xiaoxiao, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC and Dean of the Training School for Trade Union Cadres. More than 40 individuals joined the exchange event, including persons in charge of the School of Labor Union, the Training School for Trade Union Cadres, the Labor Model School (Craftsmen School and Continuing Education School), and the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, as well as faculty and student representatives.
On behalf of CULR, Party Secretary Liu Xiangbing extended a warm welcome to Vice Chair Yuwandia Moreira and her delegation. He fondly recalled the long-standing connection between CULR and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Lula). Liu went on to introduce CULR's historical evolution and unique educational characteristics, as well as recent progress and achievements in areas including discipline development, talent cultivation, training for international trade union cadres, and labor model education. He noted that over the half-century since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil, the ties have steadily advanced through the shifting global landscape. The friendship between the two countries is deeply rooted in the hearts of their peoples and continues to thrive with lasting vitality. He expressed hope that CULR would continue to enhance communication and understanding with trade unions, trade union colleges, and scientific research institutions in Brazil, and explore substantial cooperation in areas such as trade union talent cultivation, theoretical research, and practical applications. Moreover, he warmly welcomed Brazilian trade union cadres and young students to CULR for exchange and study, with the hope that they would contribute further to the friendship between the two countries.
As the exchange began, CULR fondly recalled President Lula's keynote address delivered at CULR in May 2001 and his state visit to China in April 2023 - vivid reminders of the profound friendship shared by the Chinese and Brazilian people. CULR later gifted Vice Chair Yuwandia Moreira with valuable photographs commemorating President Lula's two visits to China, requesting her to deliver them to President Lula and CUT Chairman Sesrgio Nobre.
Vice Chair Yuwandia Moreira expressed her gratitude for CULR's warm reception and congratulated CULR on its achievements over 75 years of development. She also provided a brief introduction to the general information about CUT. She remarked that ample opportunities exist for cooperation between China and Brazil in the fields of education and culture. President Lula has consistently prioritized educational investment, particularly in vocational and technical education and training for young people. She expressed hope that this exchange would deepen and expand collaboration with CULR, benefiting more trade union cadres and young students in Brazil.
During the exchange, Dean Dai Xiaoxiao introduced CULR's training programs for trade union cadres. Both sides then engaged in an interactive exchange on topics such as the curriculum system and faculty in trade union education.
At the end of the exchange, both sides exchanged commemorative gifts.
During the visit, Vice President Li Ke accompanied the delegation on a tour of the CULR History Museum and the "Building the New Era through Effort" - a themed exhibition on CULR's initiatives to study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's reply letter.
