On November 15th, Professor Khasawneh and Dr. Peter Partel, Director and Deputy Director of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Binghamton University led a delegation to visit our school, aiming to further promote the implementation of the cooperation agreement of the joint training program signed with our school in May this year. Vice President Liu Yufang and Wu Wanxiong warmly received the delegation.
During the talks, both sides fully affirmed the establishment of friendly cooperative relations between the two universities. Vice President Liu Yufang expressed the "3.5 + 1.5" joint training program was of significance to promoting CULR's international exchange and cooperation, and we should make it a model program. Based on this program, we should further expand the scope and fields of cooperation, form a stable cooperative mechanism in academic exchange between the two schools. Vice President Wu Wanxiong pointed out that the school attached great importance to establish cooperation with Binghamton University, and the "3.5 + 1.5" joint training program was a significant breakthrough in undergraduate talent training. He hoped to continue to expand areas of cooperation, gradually strengthen cooperation through staff exchange, joint academic research and visiting scholars. Professor Khasawneh and Professor Peter Partel expressed their appreciation for the warm reception. They also introduced talent training, major disciplines and international development of Binghamton University's Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering respectively, and made it clear that more outstanding students of CULR were welcome to continue their studies at Binghamton University.
During the visit, Professor Khasawneh and the delegation had discussion with teachers of the Safety Engineering Department. The two sides communicated extensively on discipline, curriculum, programs and teaching practice, especially plans such as teachers of the Safety Engineering Department visiting in Binghamton and inviting Binghamton teachers to give lectures and courses in our school. In the meeting with the students, Professor Khasawneh and his delegation introduced Binghamton University's general situation in detail and the application information of the joint training program, and answered students’ specific questions about application process, life, study and employment in the U.S., etc. The first group of students from the Department of Safety Engineering of our university who applied for the "3.5+1.5" program would start study at Binghamton University on January 22nd, 2019.
Founded in 1946, Binghamton University is the most reputable university of the four state-level research universities in New York's state univeristy system. At present, the university has 6 colleges, including Harper College of Arts and Sciences, Watson College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, College of Management, College of Education, College of Nursing and College of Public Affairs, and 24 research institutes. The Watson College has 17,200 undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students, majoring in biological engineering, computer science, electronic and computer engineering, engineering design, materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, systems science, industrial engineering, etc.
