On July 5 and 6, CULR, the Civil, Commercial and Economic Law School, CUPL and German Friedrich Ebert Foundation jointly held the New Technological Revolution • New Labor Law – Sino-German Labor Law Forum 2024 in both online and offline forms. Professor Fu Deyin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of CULR, attended the forum. The event was also attended by more than 40 scholars from China, Germany, UK, USA, France, the Netherlands, Italy and Japan as well as a number of teachers from the Law School of CULR.
In the opening remark, President Fu Deyin introduced the scale, development philosophy, major characteristics and discipline building of CULR and its Law School. With regard to the theme of the forum, he proposed that the dramatic development of new technological revolution has brought forth new challenges to traditional labor economy forms, labor relation paradigms, labor law systems and industrial labor teams, given rise to the evolution of new labor relations and legal governance of labor, and promoted the progression of labor law and social rule by law, so that it is just in time to hold the forum centered on new technological revolution and new labor law. He hoped that all the participating experts have in-depth discussions and brainstorms to respond to the hot issue of global labor rule by law in the context of new technological revolution, propose new ideas and solutions, and jointly push forward the study and deliberation on this global major theoretical and practical proposition.
The forum was divided into four sessions, i.e. AI and Labor Law, Remote Employment and Labor Law, Platform Employment and Labor Law, and Building of Industrial Labor Teams and Labor Law. Professor Jiang Ying, Vice President of the China Social Law of CLS acted as the panel moderator in the session "Remote Employment and Labor Law". Professor Xiao Zhu, Director of the Scientific Research Department and Dean of the Law School of CULR, delivered a thematic presentation titled Legislative Background, Issues and Reflections Concerning the Law on Building Industrial Labor Teams in the session "Building of Industrial Labor Teams and Labor Law". Professor Shen Jianfeng, Director of the Academic Committee of Law School of CULR, made a thematic presentation titled Legal Adjustment of Remote Employment: Paradigm Conversion and Institutional Improvement in the session of "Remote Employment and Labor Law". Dr. Chen Cheng from the Law School joined the panel discussion in the session "Building of Industrial Labor Teams and Labor Law".
This is the third Sino-German Labor Law Forum jointly held by the three co-organizers. The event serves as a bridge and a tie for Sino-foreign labor law exchanges and cooperation, provides international visions and solutions addressing the labor law issues in the context of new technological revolution, and improves CULR's international and academic influence in this field.
