On the afternoon of September 16, 2010, taking advantage of the Labor Relations Forum, the Law School of the China University of Labor Relations (CULR), invited Professor Brown William, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Darwin College at the University of Cambridge, to give a lecture titled "The UK Resolution of Labor Dispute and the Development of UK Labor Law" to the faculty and students of the main campus of the CULR.
Professor William started with the history and background of labor legislation in the UK, introduced the characteristics of UK labor law and the mediation mechanism for labor disputes, especially the operational philosophy of the third-party mediation mechanism ACAS (Advisory, Conciliation, and Arbitration Service), as well as the specific operation methods of the Arbitration Committee in resolving collective labor disputes and individual labor disputes. Through the exchange with Professor William, the students gained a deeper understanding of the situation of labor legislation in the UK, expanded their knowledge in labor law-related disciplines, and broadened their horizons. Finally, Professor Jiang Ying, Director of the Law School, gave a wonderful summary and comments.
