On March 14, a delegation of six members from the City University of Macau led by vice chairman of the board of governors Kong Fanqing, and vice president Ye Guiping visited CULR for exchanges. The delegation was received by CULR's secretary of party committee Liu Xiangbing, vice president Li Ke and vice president Wen Xiaoyi, together with the responsible persons from relevant secondary schools and functional departments including School of Public Administration, School of Social Work, department of human resources, department of student affairs, department of scientific research, department of postgraduate student affairs, and office of international exchange and cooperation.
Secretary Liu Xiangbing extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He briefly reviewed CULR's glorious history since the founding, the leapfrog development from the initial training of labor union cadres and adult education for academic credentials, to the present undergraduate and graduate education. As a higher education institution engaged in the study of labor and trade unions, CULR has thoroughly implemented the strategy of dual prioritization of "university modernization" and "deep industrialization", being committed to building a domestically leading and internationally renowned university in the field of labor and trade unions. CULR and CityU Macau have maintained close cooperation for many years, and achieved fruitful results. He expected that through the exchange, both sides further deepen cooperation on student cultivation, scientific research, etc. so as to realize high-quality development together.
Vice chairman Kong Fanqing expressed gratitude for CULR's warm reception. She highly appreciated CULR's achievements in talent cultivation and discipline building, and said that CityU Macau values the cooperation with CULR. She reviewed the cooperation outcomes since the conclusion of a cooperation agreement between the two universities in 2017, especially the concrete collaboration on training of candidates exempted from admission examination. She hoped that the two universities further expand cooperation scale, deepen cooperation on interdisciplinary studies such as new liberal arts, new science and new engineering, and jointly cultivate more compound talents with distinctive abilities and features, thereby better contributing to the development of the country.
At the meeting, the delegates of both sides had in-depth discussions on student cultivation, scientific research, discipline building, faculty exchange, development of academic platforms and other cooperation issues, and put forward substantive proposals.
Before the meeting, vice president Ye Guiping of CityU Macau gave a lecture titled "Strive and Innovate, Live Up to Expectations—Sharing and Exchange of Views on President Xi Jinping's Inspection of Macau and Studying and Implementing the Spirit of His Important Instructions" in the lecture hall 908 of Zhiyuan Building, which was attended more than 120 teachers and students from CULR. Vice president Ye Guiping introduced the efforts of CityU Macau on implementing the spirit of President Xi Jinping's important instructions, and noted that by leveraging the disciplinary and international platform advantages, and cooperating with the mainland universities, CityU Macau endeavors to support China's higher education and Macau's social and economic development, and provides a reserve talent resource for the national high-quality development.
After the event, the delegation of CityU Macau visited CULR's university history museum, and the exhibition themed "The New Era Comes from Hard Work of the People"—CULR Studies and Implements the Spirit in President Xi Jinping's Reply Letter.
