On March 7 to 9, the 9th Cross-Strait Occupational Health Academic Exchange Conference was held in Taichung, China’s Taiwan Region. The conference was co-organized by the Taiwan Occupational Hygiene Association (TOHA) and Peking University, and sponsored by Hungkuang University. Chang Dou, Secretary General of Cross-Strait Occupational Health Academic Exchange Conference and Associate Professor of the School of Safety Engineering of our university was invited to the event.
Entrusted by Wang Sheng, Chairman of the Conference and Professor from Peking University, Associate Professor Chang Dou delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, gave an academic presentation titled "Research on Mechanism of Organism Oxidative Stress of Atmospheric Particles", and co-chaired the keynote speech session with TOHA Chairman Chen Meilian. The scholars and experts from universities in the Chinese mainland, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Administration of Work Safety, provincial institutes of occupational disease prevention and treatment, TOHA and universities in China’s Taiwan Region had academic exchanges and discussions on a number of topics such as occupational pneumoconiosis, occupational poisoning, occupational stress, occupational safety and health management, regulations concerning occupational safety and health, human factors engineering, occupational safety and health in high-tech industries, and occupational and environmental epidemiology.
The Cross-Strait Occupational Health Academic Exchange Conference is annually held in the Chinese mainland or China’s Taiwan Region. After more than a decade of development since its preparatory stage, it has turned into an important platform for cross-strait communication of occupational health and played a significant role in cross-strait academic exchanges.
