In his speech, President Liu Xiangbing fully affirmed the university's foreign affairs work in 2018. He pointed out that international exchange and cooperation is a comprehensive and global work that plays a very important role in driving and supporting disciplinary construction, talent cultivation, and faculty building. There are many highlights and progress in the university's foreign affairs work in 2018. "We hope to improve our work from four aspects in the future: firstly, we need to stand at a higher position and build the CULR into a domestically first-class and internationally renowned university. Secondly, we should have a more accurate positioning, to better serve the purposes of teaching, scientific research, discipline construction, student education, teacher improvement and other areas in the university. Thirdly, we need to build stronger confidence and strive towards the goal of building a first-class university. Fourth, we need to take more practical measures to improve our work in offering more overseas visits and training to teachers, supporting excellent teachers and academic leaders of each discipline, creating brand projects, and improving services for international students and foreign teachers. From a work mechanism perspective, we will encourage and support all schools to play a dominant role in international exchanges, and promote the rapid development of the university's foreign affairs work."
Vice President Liu Yufang stated in his speech that the university's foreign affairs work has been brought onto the right track, which is inseparable from the joint efforts of all schools and departments in the university. He further pointed out that, in view of the satisfying improvements in the university's foreign affairs work both quantitatively and qualitatively, we should timely take stock of our achievements, carefully plan the priorities in the next round of work, and continue to expand our influence; all schools should play a leading role and build bridges in foreign exchange work; all departments in charge of foreign affairs, academic affairs, scientific research, and student work should strengthen cooperation, encourage and promote foreign affairs work from institutional design, funding support and other aspects, adopt diverse forms of foreign exchange, and further improve the university's foreign exchange work.
Vice President Wu Wanxiong pointed out in his speech that in 2018, the university has fostered an increasingly strong atmosphere for international exchange, and built more high-quality cooperative relationships. We have increased the influence of our teachers on the international stage, and made breakthroughs in student joint training, international trade union cadre training, and other aspects, which had a positive impact on talent cultivation, faculty building, discipline construction, and scientific research in the university.
